    How Secure is this Site?

Not the one in the link below, but this site? Who's keeping us safe from threat actors? A couple ski bum/IT professionals who type "password1" to check the servers every morning and then hit the slopes?

    'Cause this got me thinking...

Of course there's a Yelp for hookers. What a time to be alive.

Curious though, says that site has 2.4 million topics, 12.5 million posts, and over 470,000 members. Don't we have something near that in just the Padded Room alone?

Better put another bungee cord on the box fan and call up old Andrew to see where he left the password list.

That's a lot of hooker reviews. Even if iceman and Benny combined forces, I don't think we're there.

    All Icemans?

What if we add the post count juggernauts of the past like Jer and Blurred (in all forms), still not enough?

I mean, we've got appeal here as is evident, but I suppose you may be right. Hookers got some things on us that we just can't bring to the table.

To put this in perspective, if we add up the entire PR, all of Tech Talk and the Skiing Forum we're only at 3.8 million posts.

As long as you don't use the same e-mail/password combo everywhere, does it really matter how secure TGR is? I mean, I'd be irritated if someone stole my credentials and started posting Viagra spam, but it's not like there's no precedent for users changing their handles. In most cases, I don't think doxing would really be a concern for anyone here either. Like...Meadows has shitty grooming! I'm prepared for the professional and social blowback from that opinion becoming public knowledge.

Dan, I’m not sure if you’re aware but there’s some guys here tossing out some pretty strong opinions on the reg.

Hell, we even had a guy running for Congress who used his real name to post under. Can you believe that?

I'm panicked that someone will find out that I am behind the post that said no pies should be allowed to include vegetables unless they also include meat.

Can't Danno just change the padlock on the server door?

Well, no doubt the "I love my wife but..." thread could end some marriages if we were doxed

Yeah, well he was running as a Dem in Idaho though; it's not like he had a chance. Whoever hawk was might want to be careful though.

I'm going to do a test:

Name:	IMG_2505.jpg
Views:	85
Size:	598.1 KB
ID:	361125

Result: Good job, TGR; the GPS metadata in the original photo has been scrubbed. (But maybe update the photo code sometime to properly adjust for the rotation tag, which Apple puts in the EXIF block of JPEG files when Apple devices don't feel like actually rotating the JPEG to be right-side-up.)

Mostly, I agree with Dan. Security here may or may not be state of the art, but who cares. Everybody should know better than to reuse passwords, particularly to use the same password from a whatever site like this one also on a site with consequences if it's hacked.

If anyone is running a scam that targets old dentists who think they are expert doctors, lawyers, contractors, chefs, investors, and baristas and they hack TGR, we're all screwed.

I have no doubts about site security around here. Top notch. Iceman can't even log in.

Right? I was gonna say. This place is so secure even the people in charge can't get into the controls.

Dunno 'bout security, but the insecurity here (Padded Room), as well as Polyass, is pretty fucking off the charts.

"not" would be my answer. That said, no honeypot here to grab. Like maybe user email/pw? That's pretty low value.

There has to be some money in outing all the aliases.

Oh shit that’s a funny progression. And true.

Was it Jer or DigitalDrew who said they’d give someone the reins to their password for a day? Did they ever do it?

There was something like that, but I don't think it was either of those guys. I have a vague memory of someone posting a password to an alias, thinking it could be a group thing like Mr. Poundkey was way back in the day. But somebody took the password and changed it and killed the whole thing in about 20 seconds. Wish I could remember the alias involved.

I'm nearly positive Jer did it briefly when he was Kroda Marblebogg or Smokey McPole or some shit like that, but whoever got the password wasn't "grim" enough and he took it back.

    Or some such shit.

    Probably.
