I am really enjoying that bike. I started to ride up Norris…realized pretty quick it wasn’t the right way despite no “Downhill only” signs at the bottom.

Another thanks to Fred Pabst for the Kennebec Highlands trail tip. Rode this route yesterday and it was definitely rugged, backcountry singletrack. The crown trail around the summit was the highlight - exposed rock slabs were made for a different feel.

Climbing up A trail was a gradual but still a hard push. Ending with a 2+ mile (mostly) downhill was a welcome finish.

Rad ride at Bear Brook yesterday, didn’t see a single rider after mile 2 or so. Highlights included watching a porcupine climb a tree, and this guy pictured plus his compatriot in a Trump 2024 shirt scream and run around while being chased by what appeared to be a single bee. Not quite NE.....

Drove to Alma, Quebec from NH last week for work. Stopped at Mt. Sainte Anne and took a ride on the gondola. Proceeded to eat shit on the first trip down, wrecking my rear brake lever, which locked up my rear brake. Quick trailside repair got the wheel spinning at least.

At first glance, trails looked pretty smooth.

155 from Quebec City to Alma is pretty sweet. This lake is at ~2,600' right next to the highway (Lac Jacques Cartier?). Second picture is a few miles further down the highway.

This place is right behind one of my co-workers house in Saguenay. Raining so it was pretty slick, but the place is pretty cool.

Made ordering at Tim Horton's challenging, but I love that the fact that quite a few people up there could give two shits about speaking english. New brake lever will be here today.

^^^Super jelly. I wan't to ride Quebec so bad.

Did the full Base Camp-Sherburne-Gifford Woods loop on Saturday. Not the full monty, but one good loop (~2 hours). Save for 2 100 crossings (one a blind S turn- freakin' terrifying), the full zone makes for a kick-ass day. And this is not to mention the 4+ mile loop they've just about funded and will soon break ground on that will climb the ridge above Gifford SF and connect to Velomont.

    Sickter stuff. Go KMBC.

Awesome. Glad you liked it and looks like you scored a primo weather day. That style of trail build is what some of us grew up on and is a welcome change in the era of machine made flow. But it's all good.

    Hot fire.

Rode Rochester for the first time today. Flowtastic. Only scratched the surface, but boy oh boy is that valley beautiful from up high, and there is a LOT of trail there. ROC for the win.

Also- if you have any novice MTBers you want to take out for a really lovely run to get them stoked on the sport- Creamery Run through the valley corridor is awesome. Rochester, Randolph, Pittsfield- the (not so) secret triangle of great VT riding .

I’ll be up in Stowe Sunday to Sunday with my mtb and gravel bike—anyone up for some epics? Would love to knock out some big rides.

I’ll be around and would love to do a big ride. Let me see what I can finagle with work. Would a big mtb tour of Stowe be of interest?

The under stay brakes were such a pleasure

Not riding much, shit is kinda going sideways for me this year. Gonna be getting out more after the beginning of September I hope.

Just bumping up if anyone has an extra bike to sell for my kid to replace the one that was ripped off at the beginning of the summer. I will back east September 1. Ideally like $1500. Large. Basic aluminum 29er hardtail. Full suspension would be nice but I don't see it happening. Need it to ride for VT 50 so want some miles on it before that.
While the riding out west this summer has been awesome, I'm looking forward to not checking the AQI every morning. The smoke has been bad. But the trails have been rad. Saw more bears than people on my 30 mile ride in Idaho yesterday.

Well played J, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for used LG bikes.

GF and I rented a house near Burke Mtn for October. She’d love to have a bunch of my imaginary friends over!
