I'm heading up to ascutney tomorrow. We will have 2 cars, and intend to park one car at the State park (east end of the Norcross), and park the other at the ski area base (west end). We are going to begin our ride at one car, and end the ride at the other. I'd like to ride the Norcross in the "best" direction, since we'll probably only have the legs to do it once. Thanks in advance
Oh just ride it out and back! At the campground end there is a loop on the other side of the road that is fun but optional.
I rode from the campground most of the way out and back.

Great program for kids racing put on by some great people at some kick-a$$ venues.

Also, bye bye leaves. See you on the ground in the morning.

I coached a team this year (and will continue to), awesome events and people. Better atmosphere than adult races with 3 times as many riders, lots of comradery and positivity, but also good racing.

Came to share the hardest ride I've ever done. 60 miles, 9000 feet of climbing. I dont know the ratios, but mostly singletrack, a bit of chunky and steeeeep class 4, and a tiny bit of road. I totally cracked at about 6 hrs in. With about 1.5 hours left though, everything came back though and I felt better than I did at the start. Took about 10 hrs with a wheel repair and gas station lunch. Highly recommend, so much variety. Will be even better when the velomont is finished. My head went to some dark places, but impressed with how my body did.

    Sounds like a nice one!

I assume you went through the closure ribbons and signage on the singletrack off Cushman road? They might have blown down?

That section is the pilot project for MTB trails in State Wildlife Management Areas. “Pilot” meaning that this section could possibly not be adopted - ie. it could be closed if we don’t follow the rules. This would also potentially impact future trails in other areas… just a thought.

That downhill off the north end of Cushman is no joke.

Should have made this clear, it was the weekend before everything closed. Your talking about the newer machine built climb, right?

    Nice effort s_curran!

@single how’d the repair effort go on the carriage trails? Those pics you posted in the spring looked like some heavy damage

Oh cool, yeah I was talking about that part. Glad you were there before they closed it. For some reason they closed it earlier this year…

Yeah, I had no idea it was coming, made me really glad I did the ride when I did. Next year I'll do the lap to GMT. That climb is awesome, Riding up Randolph gap from there would have further broke me. We did the regular way up for the circus ride 2 weeks later.

Another nice lap today after the Sun broke out. Scoped my local “backcountry zone” that fills in to be skiable about once a decade.

Bald Peak by Parkman. Sargent also has some ski lines when we get enough snow to fill in.

Have you seen the Working For The Weekend vid with Ben Leoni skiing Dorr?

Yes… I think that was about the same storm/timeframe as I last BC skied on the Island in Feb. 2015

I have a video somewhere I may try to dig up.

Hball built most of the riding neighborhoods in VT. He is the man.

Probably the last day the whole gang rides together this year. Fun day at Little River.
