    Fear of speed

Ok I started skiing as an adult and am now in my late 30's. I ski about 20 times per year with my family in Vermont. I am so frustrated that I can't get over my fear of speed! I am not a wimpy person either! I probably go as fast, maybe a little slower than most guys I see. But I ski with my brother and teenage boys and want to keep up. I am 5'8" and ski 165's. Would a little longer ski help? Any suggestions?

I've done WAWA for 2 years with my instructor there. Sometimes I think confidence may be part of it but I don't think that's it entirely...

    What kind of terrain?

Groomers? Easy, just get some GS race skis.

Variable snow in some steeps with exposure? That's a different ballgame.

So you'd rather have this guy go full kook like the fucktard that almost took you out straight-lining backseat at Kmart?

Dude, stay slow. Speed is overrated for full fucking idiots that don't know how to turn. People that actually know how to carve are not concerned with speed. You should be worried about control and speed slowly follows.

    This is an AZ thread!

    Couple things.

You need the right wax. What sort of wax are you using?

Once you get that sorted, find a fight song to listen to before your run.

    Report back after.

It is an odd thing. The account is over 3 years old, lots of posts for a bot account. No links to penis cream or other spam. Yet IP addresses in the Philippines. Except for the registration IP which was in the UAE.

They're playing the long game here, I'm inclined to let it ride and see where this one goes.

I’m okay with that, and at least it’s in the PR.

Between that and the $ coming in from Killington store, we should be in good shape fanwise for the summer.

I'm super disappointed. Based on the thread title I thought this was a discussion about methamphetamines.

That might help, but in all honestly I think he also needs more time on skis. It's hard for me to say, but I'm always amazed at people who start skiing later in life and manage to reach a high level (I don't think I could have done it).

If you really want to ski faster you (and ill-advised) are correct about the gear. 'Fast' is relative, but if I start going at speed on anything much below 180's I could see it getting squirrely (my only skis shorter than 180 are SL boards which can be pretty scary at higher GS speeds). I would say if you're not comfortable letting them run on 180's or 190's then your skill level is probably telling you not to ski that fast anyway.

OMG, I'm pretty sure I know the crash featured in that still of Bode, and I'm not fucking watching that (it's the one where the ski severed his entire calf muscle or something, right?).
