Since a thread was asked for. Here’s how you can hotrod ur Lupo HDs for better downs or get Gripwalk on a Krypton. Get any Krypton cuff & slap it on the Lupo clog. No need to remove the gusset. L9 has old Kryptons for this purpose & you get the liner & tongue free!

See 2nd pic. You can swap out the little wedges at the back of the boot, same as always. You can also add fwd lean with a Lupo cuff by adding a shim to the shelf the walk mode lever locks out on, just a little chunk of polyethylene and a screw.

So without having them in hand to confirm - can I take an old pair of kryptons and Mount to my 130 lupos? Not the HD fancy green ones, the orange clog.

Thanks for sharing! Was actually going to ask you to post about this. Did you remove the plastic horseshoe piece that the Lupo Pro HD has near the top of the clog where it connects to the cuff? Ive played around with this a little bit and have found the old lupo SP/krypton has less of a gap between the two "fingers" at the top of the clog, while the new lupo pro HD has a bigger gap to facilitate better ROM. Seems like they added that horseshoe piece to add support for the bigger gap.

Yes, providing the both utilize the same canting mechanism hardware. I have a feeling the older KR1 will not be compatible with the Lupo.

No, I chose not to remove the gusset as I will likely configure those back to actual Lupos when I get an new set of Kryptons

Jake from Moment skis drilled his out & used tape to seal the gap.

I found that if you wanted a smaller gap and a more upright stance, place the canting hardware in position “2”.

Running a forward lean shin & thus wanting more space to place it, I aligned the “twin axis hardware” in position “1”. With the shim in, it’s seamless & flush.

Because I'm not super familiar with dalbello boots and it seems I'm a little slow. This would allow you to have a full resort boot (no walk mode wiggle) and be pin capable? Hallelujah if so

You are a lot quicker on the uptake than you give yourself credit for.

Fore aft you get perhaps 10 pounds of bacon more worth of flex........... yet laterally its like your ankle is sandwiched between 2 packs of extra thick cut that's frozen solid.

Every KR2 & Lupo uses the same cuff, 110, 130, 120, AX.....

I have a factory cuff on a AX 120 & a 120 on a HD....

The goal is to get the option to run GripWalk & tour on a Krypton. While the Lupo HD is a legit boot, the Krypton skis better due to the non mobile, fixed cuff & ability to easily change the forward lean. So for the resort skier who occasionally tours a bit or has a dedicated set of AT boots, this is a superb option. Many boot companies are realizing that AT is really skiing done by mountaineers, not chargers and are building "skier boots" like this and the new Lange's.

Added a Lupo SP cuff to the Lupo Pro HD clog. Will test this out for now because I had them on hand, but will eventually get a full krypton cuff.

From my observation, the new designed Lupo cuff is designed to use the gusset because the cuff is thinner and has a gap between the cuff and the clog. The gusset fills in this gap to make it flex properly. I chose to remove the gusset for the older thicker Lupo SP cuff (which is basically the same as the krypton cuff just with a walk mode) because there is no gap and doesn't seem to need the gussett.

Been skiing the old heavy Lupo SP for a couple years now, and got on some full Kryptons this weekend. While subtle, noticed the difference of the solid upper cuff immediately, and definitely has some performance benefits vs anything with walk mode.

Nice job iriponsnow. This is a great mod you figured out.
