Fischer Ski Company Does Not Stand By Their Product
I had a warranty issue with my Fischer Ranger 108 TI. The sidewall blew out. No base or edge damage - so no obvious reason for a blow out there.
I reached out to Fischer and was surprised to find that they would not stand by their skis and offered me no recourse. Good ski but if they won't stand by their product I can't buy from them again and could not recommend them.

Who’d you buy it from?
Often retailers are more responsive than manufacturers on this stuff...you are “their” customer.

I purchased them new from Asianrickcross here on TGR so I tried a few local stores but no one stepped up to help with the return so I had to go through Fischer. I wrote directly to Fischer and eventually ended up speaking with Alexander White @ Warranty and Parts Specialist.
I'm not sure how the sidewall blew out for sure. I can say I was skiing a groomer - heard a pop. Took it off to explore and noticed the sidewall blow out. I did not feel any impact and there was no base or edge damage.

Besides, that is compression damage, IMO.
And I base this on the location of the separation, and almost forty years of evaluating warranties for customers. My guess is possible you hit a log or something that didn’t damage the base? It could have been long before the incident that you noticed. Water got in there, and did some damage, IMO.Forum Cross Pollinator, gratuitously strident

^^^^^^ Thanks, I did get a good deal.
When this all fell through I epoxied them up but they just don't feel like they have the same hold. Frustrated.
I scraped together some pennies and took the opportunity to buy some Enforcer 104s from Ptex1. Good deal.

The #1 consequence of buying used skis is they don't have a warranty.
The #2 consequence is you save money.
Whether it's worth the risk is up to you.
FWIW, my Fischer Motives have been really bomber despite my best attempts.Last edited by The Tortoise; 01-17-2021 at 08:09 PM.

I had a pair of ranger 102s where the topsheet on the tail delaminated. Fischer was out of the 102 in my size for rest of that year, they sent a new pair in July when they were back in stock. I was able to keep the delaminating pair, just glued them and they still ski great. I basically got 2 skis for the price of one, I feel like I came out ahead.
Also had a pair of Salomon's with the same issue as in your picture. I tried to warranty it but the skis were like 5 year old and not covered under warranty which was a bummer but it was what I expected.

You didn’t even buy from them the first time.
It has been my experience that ski companies are generally much better at standing behind their products than other consumer goods manufacturers, even when purchased outside the traditional retail channels, in which case you go back through the channel from which the equipment was acquired. Unfortunately, secondhand on a ski forum doesn’t usually deliver on the warranty front. IMO, this thread is bullshit.

This. Why would you expect to get any warranty claim when you bought this second hand? I'm all for good customer relations, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

You contacted the manufacturer on a pair of not new to you (ie used so you have no way of knowing if they happen to have been hit or smashed in some way on an object before you purchased them)? Your beef should never be with the manufacturer unless these were purchased as new boards from a Fischer authorized dealer or even someone that will stand behind the sale if in fact there is a true defect in the boards or the edge, etc.

Put them under your pillow and wait for the Entitlement Fairy to leave you another new/used pair.
What person buys something gray market and expects the manufacturer to warranty something? Your one pic doesn't really show anything the would suggest an edge "blowout", especially considering the upward curve of the sidewall (or so it appears), which could also just be due to the overall poor quality of the pic. I hope there was something a little more compelling in the other pics you took? Still, I can't understand why you'd think you would have warranty on something you bought on a forum, TGR in particular.
Garbage thread for plenty reasons.Gravity. It's the law.

It seems like every industry handles warranties differently. Car warranties go with the car until they expire. Martin Guitars' excellent lifetime warranty is valid for the original owner only. The ski industry wants people buying skis at authorized prices from authorized dealers--in exchange for paying more you get a warranty.

Not original purchaser (no warranty)
Compression just forward of binding heel
Sorry man, all brands would say gtfo, and rightly so.

I had the sidewall slightly separate from the edge on the bottom on a brand new pair of Fischer Ranger 102's. I bought them from Level 9 in Salt Lake online. I walked back into the store with them & walked out 15 minutes later with a brand new replacement set of the same skis. They pulled my bindings off the bad ones & slapped them on the new ones. I had a good experience with them (Level 9) and am glad I bought them there. Bummer that there was a problem with the skis but hopefully it was an isolated occurance.
