Gardner didn't exercise his option.... He was such a good ballplayer in his prime covering tons of acreage in center and fearing no injury, very much the antithesis of a spoiled Arod type. Couldn't even make his college team his first try, drafted low, always overshadowed by over people with the same skillset (fucking Ellsbury wtf). He should have packed up his cleats a few years ago, but for a day I'd like to remember him in his prime and not struggling to hit .200 as a should have retired years ago type.

Anyway, if this is the end, who are the Sox fans going to hate the most now? Boone might have hit that homerun, but he's a gift now!

Oh yeah, from downtown to midtown to Cobb County, no kids in school, and if my email is any indication, no one within the state is working today either.

I'm guessing there's gonna be some strong hangovers tomorrow morning.

    Ok
MVP is some bullshit this year

Otani is AL, other finalists are window dressing.
But 2 that didnt make playoffs?

3 dudes in NL that didnt make the playoffs?
    Harper, Soto and Tattis
    All good
    All good seasons
    But no Crawford?
No nod to Turner despite most hits and best Avg?
    Muncy?
    Freeman?

6 best players in MLB are on non playoff teams?
    Not buying it.

    MVP is bullshit anyway.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

enjoy heaney in LA, there’s a chance Dodger Stadium could suppress a few home runs but since he averages like 3 an inning i’d say the Giants are the big winners.

Freeman for sure has got to be in there. Shit, maybe even Albies given what those dudes did when Acuna went down.

No Snitker for Manager of the Year? He only took a team that was under .500 at the break and won the Series.

Austin Riley needs to be a candidate as well.

in the AL the jays were in it till the last week. that’s not like giving it to any of the NL candidates on loser clubs but in the same post you are ok with giving the award to ohtani on the mediocre angels?

if that’s fine then why kvetch about the NL, it’s the same shit.

Noone has done what Ohtani has done in my lifetime
His achievements transcend the Angel's mediocrity.
    None of the others do.

Meh. Is Turner getting snubbed a bit? Probably. But Ohtani got a special award for being a complete badass so this is just unwritten rules handwringing part 25.

They haven't mattered to me much since Palmeiro took the gold glove from Tino after a season of DH anyway.

I read somewhere that if Riley homered on 21 consecutive ABs his OPS would still be lower than Harper

He ain't wrong, but this happens in all sports, and the reason is only a small part draft picks as he claims, but mostly saving $ on payroll. In football accumulating draft picks is a much larger impetus since a team will lose more games, get an easier schedule, talent is easier to assess and you generally see much quicker payout. I do agree it sucks, but how would you curtail it?

Hes not wrong, but per usual all he cares about is more $ for his guys which means more money for him.
He is wrong that its a cancer, teams made a decision. Braves chose to buy and go for it.
Reds, Phillies, Mariners, Yankees, Reds, Cubs, etc were all in similar positions position and didnt.

Which Franchises are a happier? Right now the Braves Long term? We will see says the Zen master.

It all blows up and resets this winter anyhow.

    .
Yeah, that is a given. He's a great agent if he's your agent, otherwise he sucks for baseball, creating ridiculous salaries which translates to needing to budget for going to a game nowadays.

bullshit cover from the guy who presumably made $$$ for gettin max scherzer traded from the “tanking” nats to the competitive dodgers? Braves were third in the nl East on august 1, 2 games up on those same nats. The nats chose to tank (wonder how much player pressure from good players?) the braves didn’t.

Did Boras say the Yankees tanked? Trading for Rizzo, Gallo, and the first FA signing this offseason in Heaney (who singlehandedly cost the Yanks HFA) was hardly tanking. I wish they get Scherzer and Turner, but they didn't.

Gallo is represented by Boras, so you'd think he team went from an also ran to a team that made the sort of playoffs.

They didnt because they didnt have the prospects to trade. Everyone talks abbout the Dodgers "buying talent" but we traded away 2 great prospects to get Max & Trea and a few to get Mookie
