It skis long, but not that long. You should be on a 175 in the Forma, hopefully one will be made eventually but it's not in the lineup for 2023.

I like skis around 180cm for everyday use and a bit longer (183-184cm) for pow. I like centerish mounts...eg -3cm to -7cm.

I bought the 180cm Season Aero (which is the longest Aero length they make) and it does not ski long, even though it has camber pretty much to the tips and tails. It has a longer effective edge and contact length than the Nexus and Forma. But it's the centered mount point I think (I’m @ -3.2cm) that makes them ski short.

As I really liked the Aero I asked Season about the Nexus too and they told me 177cm Nexus (5'7", 170 lbs ….but I was still thinking the 183cm Nexus as it's got a -3cm mount too). Also considered the 183cm Forma but have too many 184cm pow skis, all of which ski shorter (Renegades, BC 120 and un-skied Revolt 121s).

Just a quick update on the Aero (I'll post a review next season)....once I got the 180cm Season Aero I didn't really use my 179cm MFree-99s on the low-tide days any more. Both are quick and pretty versatile on groomed or non-groomed. The Aero is grippier, but you can still easily throw the tails sideways at speed when needed. To me the Aero was still playful, yet kind of more solid feeling. Seems durable too. Probably don't need both the Aero and the M-Free 99.

When I demoed the 180 Aero, it felt about right. I own the 183 Nexus, it also feels about right. The 183 Forma is way more ski than either - in terms of stability, confidence at speed and ease of initiating a turn it feels "longer" than anything else in my quiver except maybe my 186 OG Bodacious. For the record, my daily drivers when it snows are a 188 Rustler 11 and 184 Black Crows Atris. Everything was mounted on the Infinity line. Haven't tried the Kin or the Pass yet.

Pulled the trigger on the 183cm Nexus.
I always end up happiest on a playful ski that is still pretty stable at speed.

And I really like my 180cm Season Aero's and their progressive mount at -3.2cm ( -0.5cm from ∞ mark) is money for me. Once I got the 180 cm Aero I didn't ski my 179cm M-Free99s at all ( likely selling the M-Frees once the snow flies).

Likely mounting Nexus on the ∞ line (-2.75cm) with STHs.

Has anyone here tried Nexus and can compare it to Line Sakana or Blade? Looking for DD in UT, prefer dynamic style over plowing through stuff.
Also, did they change anything between gen 1 and this year?

Alright so I now own both the Forma and the pescado, cuz I found dirt cheap pescados and bought them cuz I miss them. Here goes my thoughts on comparing them.

Me: 5’9” 175#, ski 100+ days a year cuz it’s my winter job.

The pescado is lighter, slightly stiffer IMO, wider, and has more “pop” in the camber. The Forma is heavier, narrower, softer IMO, and the camber feels more subtle and tanky than the pescado.

I am usually skiing tight trees in Montana powder on these, going where other people aren’t, so I’m not slaying open bowls I’m skiing way too fast in the woods. For this reason alone I prefer the pescado. The additional float and pop and lighter weight keeps them more nimble and ready to slam on the brakes so I don’t break other stuff.

I need to get the Forma in some really good snow before I make a final judgement, but if I had to pick one to keep I’d choose the pescado, due to my personal style and preference.

The pescado requires more input to ski them how I like, and the Forma is maybe more enjoyable for the average TGR user who wants a ski like this. I’m really not sure. I’ll update when I get a chance.

Edit: I forgot to add: I usually ski a 185-190 “big” ski, like the rustler 11, Nordica enforcer free 110, etc.

I like the length of the pescado and the Forma. Since they’re both very cambered, with only a big scoop of taper and early rise in the tips, they ski like a much longer yet way more nimble pow ski when you’re on the groomer. But when you’re in the business, they end up being super powerful, nimble, floaty, and crazy fun.

I thought that Evo deal on Season is a good opportunity to try something new this year. Got both Forma 183 and Nexus 189. Not sure how I feel about the binding color choice though...

The binding color kicks ass. I think we all over think everything right before the season starts because there is nothing else going on but fondling gear. Id bet by the third week of November you won't even remember what color the bindings are.

You’re good. That Jester binding matches the Season sidewall colour….I have the 180 Aero and the 183 Nexus and know it well.

I liked the Aero’s enough that I got the Nexus.

I would probably get Aero if it was in 185 range. Can you compare Line Blade and Aero length wise? I know you had Blade in 176 and for me 181 was pretty fun length. Is Aero 180 > Blade 176?

My 183cm Forma measure just about 3cm longer than my 180cm pescado. don’t know if it translates to the aero/blade

Answer: No.

Aero 180 = Blade 176 in my opinion.

I found the 176 Blade easy to ski. Length felt right.

I feel the same about the Aero. I was concerned when I first saw the Aero, that it would ski too long, as it has minimal tip/tail rocker. Eg I’m used to Rustlers, Enforcer 104 Frees and Icelantic Nomads which have lots of tip/tail rocker. (I typically ski 184cm in pow, and 179-181cm for non-pow).

The 180 Aero is surprisingly easy to ski. I think it’s the -3ish mount point which I clicked with (pun) right away.

Luke at Blister does a good job explaining how you have to ski the Aero. It’s how I ski and it works.

I went for the 183 Nexus this summer, as it’s looser than the Aero. So I don’t think it will ski long either. And I think the 177 Nexus would feel small at that centered mount. Interestingly the 177 is the Nexus size Season recommended for me. But don’t care. I’m gonna mount the 183cm Nexus on the Infinity line, -2.75cm. My 180 Aero is mounted a bit back at -3.20 cm and feels perfect.

Conclusion: Season needs a 185 Aero for bigger skiers.

btw I just sold my 179cm M-Free 99. Great ski. But I found I was spending more time on the Aero at the end of last season. It was just as fun with great grip too.

I’m really hoping the 183cm Nexus (-2.80) is like a stiffer, and more stable 184cm Line Bacon (which I’ve owned @ -2cm)). We ski a lot of steep, variable terrain, with lots of tight spots. I’m looking forward to the extra few cm of length (eg vs my 179 Enforcer 104 Free which I'm selling because I own a Nexus). That -2.80 (∞ mark) should make it maneuverable.

I would probably also get a 183cm Forma, as I like swallowtails (and have owned Pescados and Comis both with a swallowtail), but I think the Forma skis longer than it’s 183cm? And it has a more rearward mount point.

Can’t wait for snow!

Season Pass lengths:

165, 175 and 185cm per the website.... minimal 2mm of camber is sweet! Similar dimensions and not a lot of taper similar to Icelantic Nomad 115s (150-115-140) or Faction Candide 5.0 (148-122-150).

185cm is only 1,800gm

∞ rec mount is -4cm.

Bumping this as I’m about to mount my Aeros. Question on where to mount, KC put his at -1 cm from infinity based on his input above. Knowing these other two skis, I will likely put it there as well as it is well ahead of what I am accustomed to. Any input on mount point for the ski would be appreciated, understanding it’s totally a personal choice. Mounts on the other Dynastars we’re on the line for me and I got along very well w/them. Looking to ski all over the mountain on the ski including bumps with my kids, i love to pressure the tips to initiate turns. Thanks-

I just sold my 183 Nexus (sadly unmounted). Needed to make some quiver room because I really want to try the the Nordica Unleashed 108 this season and they overlap.

Re the Season Aero….

For me the 180 Aero is a perfect ski for those days when it hasn’t snowed in awhile and you’re skiing everything there is at WB. It’s not too heavy, but grips with its camber. Yet it’s still loose enough…with the centered mount. Which was a bit surprising as they do have lots of camber.

zlatham - I’ll be interested in your take on the 180 Aero as a pressure the tips kind of skier. I ski pretty centered, and like forwardish mounts (-4cm to -6cm is my sweet spot). The Aero allowed me to sell my 179 M-Free 99, as I preferred the Aero.

This Blister Aero review is worth a re-read. It’s what made me go -1cm (-3.8cm). Luke at Blister likes -4.5cm. Given you liked the line on the Dynastars I would go at least -1cm back on the Aeros. But no father back than -2cm as that’s not the purpose of this ski.

I really appreciate the response KC, I reread that review and I’m going to mount at -1. It’s gonna be fun to ski at a more centered position on the ski and compare with previous skis/mount points. Seems like it’s going to be a really fun ski so I’m not overly concerned, thanks again!

Looks like I’m going to a shorter bsl this year (new boots) so I’m a bit further forward on the Aero. Good thing I went -1cm originally. I think I’m -0.3cm now.

I’d prolly go a bit forward on the Forma if I got them. Eg +1cm to around -6.7cm? (Rec ∞ mark is -7.7cm I think).

I'm more of a directional skier, last year my mostly used pairs were Black Crows Justis 189 on firmer days, Corvus 188 for mixed days/DD, Nocta when we got dumped. I also had Line Blade 181 for days when I was riding with my 7yo snowboarder. This year I decided to give a shot to progressive mounted skis. Got Line Vision 108 for touring, Nexus for DD duties, Forma for soft/powder days.
Quick update on Nexus 189: not a big fan. They are totally competent in the mixed conditions we got after an early storm in UT, but didn't like them on hard groomers, they were ok in tracked out powder. Will keep them for a bit but most likely will end up in GS.
