Same thought. The video goes on about the fit being refined. I assume that's vs. the Hoji boots (I know some love them here but many find them weird) and not old shit like Vulcans. More interested in a Hoji Free w/Vulcan-like (a TLT5-like last is too much to hope for) last than this boot. The new Fischer boot looks aimed at exactly the same slot as this one.
yeah, the fit takes some additional effort. at least it did for me. but to say that any boot compares to the Hoji lock is admitting you haven't used the Hoji lock. there's no better option IMO.
bumps are for poor people
It sounds like the slate of touring boot options is going to be killer next year.
Solid looking boot.

Kevin who's good buds with Hoji and has been on it since prototypes has some thoughts on fitting the Hoji. (Has anybody been baking vs. heat stack the liner?)

Working at a retailer selling the boot, our boot work shelf is always 50% full of Hoji's and were beyond annoyed at how few peeps fit the boot but want to be in it. Such a shame as the Hoji mech is rad.
I was joking...perhaps poorly, but joking nonetheless.

It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.
My thought exactly, but then I looked at the specs more closely. I think the hoji would actually fit my foot well, but I just got a barely used pair of Vulcans I’ll have to wear out first.
That video is actually awesome. I have thought of k2 as a boring flimsy brand for a while, but that got my interest.

I wish Dynafit would figure out whatever the fuck it is with their fits. The Hoji lock is great but I know several folks who have or are about to throw their boots away because of the fit issue. The rest who have the boot have some persistent yet minor and nagging issues with the fit. Never met a soul who raved about the fit of any Dynafit boot.
Every other company some how manages to have at least some group they fit but the smoothbrains at Dynafit have yet to to make a boot which fits anyone well. Until they look at a human foot and start using it as a basis for how boots should fit they can fuck right off to irrelevant land next to their outdated overweight poor performing skis and bindings. Doesn’t matter how good the Hoji lock is if it doesn’t fit anyone. If it’s really that good only a matter of time until another company figures out a way around the patent and takes Dynafit a lunch money away from the only product they make worth a damn in any market segment.
Hoji probably designed the one bit that works.
I do know a few people who love the Mercury’s.
Mercury is the best fitting boot I have. And I tried a lot of boots.

I have the hoji free and after an hour or so of work, they fit well.
Before fitting, without the liner in, i was riding m touching on both sides of my forefoot.
And i love how they tour, though heavier than my zgpt, and how they ski.

Has anyone seen Scarpa’s 2022 offerings? I’m wondering if there is anything that slots into their lineup between the F1 LT and Alien.
Also on the note of the Hoji boots. My pair fits well. I have low volume feet, so I had to add a tour wrap but I’m pretty happy with them. Full Transitions are easily under a minute without thinking about it. The best boot I’ve owned from a fit perspective is the Vulcan.
Dynafit definitely make all sorts of inexplicable (to me at least) design choices, but some of us do appreciate that they produce boots which fit the lower volume, low instep end of the foot shape spectrum (even the 3F Comp fit my foot perfectly back before they pivoted into being a backcountry brand). It may limit sales in the North American market (and presumably helps them in Italy) but until we get 3D printed boot shells (please) the fact that not every company is targeting the average NA foot shape isn’t a bad thing.

I ski Doberman 93 last plug boots without much work and the hoji fits me like shit. Wide forefoot, decent ankle but horrible instep and the instep is made of carbon so hard to work on.
There is wide agreement that the Hoji Free skis great and the Hoji Lock, which seems complicated, works well and doesn't break.
Lots of problems with maleolus conflicts, though, especially forward-located ones, and it is often very hard to modify for this as the spot is typically right on the edge of the shell. You can't cut or grind it because it will compromise the flex pattern and you can't punch it well because there is little supporting structure.
