If an inanimate object could look like it was pooping, it would look like a polygon.

Looked at eBay, PB, Worldwide Cyclery, Jenson, REI, Amazon... absolutely nothing in stock anywhere. Jesus.
I've stumbled into local shops that have a stash of Shimano parts so might be worth calling around. Couldn't find the N04 brake pads anywhere and was just going to pickup a new shock pump and a shop had like 20 sets on the rack and about 10 of the 12 speed shimano chains on the rack as well.

With covid I think people have gotten even more into buying things online and with some shops not letting people in doing curbside for the past year I think people have stopped checking shops - I'm guilty as well since I don't want to tell someone at the door what I'm looking for I want to come in and put my hands on it and then decide if I really want to buy it and the other 10 things I pickup along the way. So if a shop is doing curbside I just walk away.

Good point about the local shops having stock... luckily at this point, I'm all set as the shifters were just mailed to the wrong person. All good for now.

    Is that a Marin?

Most of the Polygon bikes look much more normal...

    Definitely a polygon.

Polygon licensed that suspension design first. Then Marin followed suit. I think both have since realized that no one will buy those things, so they've both gone back to producing fairly generic catalog bikes.

with the low supply numbers, I'm surprised not to see a spike in prices on ebay for parts that are scarce . I realize brick/motor stores can't jack prices but surprised public, that has parts, is not letting supply/demand give them a higher price.

Looked up SL M8100R and shifters are $60-$65 shipped from asia. This is just normal retail, with a WAY longer ship time

But that is an inflated price. Previously if you wanted to wait for the shipping from Asia or Europe you could get those parts from the grey market below retail, and close to North America's wholesale costs.
Now they are just the same as NA's retail costs.

    True:

but why have the NA "real" parts, in stock, in NA have not gone up in price?

Looks like Shimano 12 speed components are trickling into some online sites and shops from what I've seen the past few days. Cranks, chains, brake pads - stuff I've been looking for for a bit. Might be worth a check now if there is something you have been after.

Their Sisku frames are well sorted, that other thing above avoid like the plague. No idea what Marin has in stock, but the Alpine Trail and Rift Zone are sorted frames that are often overlooked. Polygon owns Marin now.

I had a Polygon road bike for a while when I lived in Singapore. They're manufactured in Indonesia; my road bike was fine, pretty vanilla - it was a 105 bike that I bought used knowing I would only be in town for 4 months. For an MTB, I'd be a little skeptical that their bikes keep up with other manufacturers - I would definitely want to test ride.

I am hearing escalating whispers that Taiwan is nearing a lockdown. This could delay a lot of stuff that's already delayed....
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Maxxis tires were like Kaiser Sose this morning at BTI. I got what I needed but wish they had item limits, that shipment lasted about 40 minutes.

Everything in this article has been covered here for months, but the mainstream media is picking up on it.

I have a buddy that sold his 6 yr old reign for not much less than purchase price. More if you factor in the 6yr old dollar. I dont think we've ever seen that with mtb. In my 40 yrs ive always taken a hit with a resale. Always. Most of the time less than half purchase price. I heard shimano nixed the idea of building another factory and theyre forecasting a buying slowdown. I dont think thatll happen for a couple years. People are still waiting to buy or some have given up and will try again. Manufacturing wont be able to catch up. Even more so with emtb's. If you want one, mtb or emtb, find one that fits in the style of bike you want and make it happen. The risk is as low as it gets..... for the time being almost risk free. If you can sell it in a year or 2 for purchase price all your doing is paying for the maintenance on a free bike. The inflated dollar in 2 years even covers some of that maintenance dollars youve spent

Its worth considering. The problem atm is finding a bike that fits you and youre usage. If a person has a bit of cash flow and wants an upgrade it could be the perfect time. If you have some flow plus a cushion/safety net id say definitely. Not many bike co's build shit bikes these days so chances are it will be possible to resell if there no strange new tech on it. Any Specialised model shouldnt be a problem to resell if you find for some reason you want to sell it. If you find something you want, with some research of course, i'd jump on it with the confidence in knowing you'll be able to sell your current bike at a price a fair bit higher than the norm to this point. Id make it run well so someone can get on it and ride straight away without anything to consider. Most people are aware if they waffle they could get scooped and have nothing atm.
Im not pushing specialized, although they are great bikes, but if its something that you think fits youre usage maybe. Personally i'd look for desired usage and personsal body fit first. Fit is key and i have room to alter the price a bit after that. Compare companies that offers that at a great price point and balance that end price with it being online or from an lbs. Put 5 or 6 options side by side on paper with all the geo and components. Id except paying more from a lbs, just how much is for you to decide. Im not up on all of specialized pricing. I know the staus and levo comp are priced decent(aluminium trail/enduro bikes). Specialized and santa cruz are asking a lot for their carbon bikes. Nice bikes but no way im going there. Cant fault anyone for chosing one though, sweet bikes

Willing to sell my 2021 Occam M10 size xl with less than 10 rides. If that happens the Rallon mentioned above will be mine.
