I hope you all get to enjoy a good day on Baldy at least once in your ski life. Merry Christmas to everyone out there.

View from the new lift. Glades and chutes on left and Turkey Bowl(not visisble) are now lift served.

I'm glad they're getting natural snow but still looks a bit sparse. Agree, everyone should ride that mountain sometime in their life. I don't exaggerate to say you can log 16k vert an hour if the lines aren't bad. Cruising paradise, impeccable grooming work, just lay em over and drive some big arcs.
My history there? We broke in the Ho Chi Minh hike up Warm Springs side in 75. Whispers became a roar and soon, many were walking up that thing. The Patrol folks discovered a pile of stashed ski's in the woods up there and confiscated them. So much for the locals pass.

Yep, like most storms that are predicted with those amounts, we get nothing but a bunch of wind.

Years ago, ski_faster, myself and hatch all met up on a glorious Thursday on Baldy and got a most excellent ski day with Zach Crist. So yeah, a great day to be on Baldy and be shown the goods by one of the masters.

That's a very rare event for SV. Good to see them getting some decent snow fall. Hope that forecast holds together for them.

15" on top plus windblown at Bald Mtn at 3pm today. Hoping for the full 30" predicted. It's still sparse coverage though and new terrain still closed.

^^^ Yikes! That's a grim pic. Fingers crossed for the Sawtooths and some major dumpage.

I'd been looking for an instructor so I always watch when they ski by to get an idea of how they ski with the idea of hiring them. Saw one go by a couple weeks ago and catch up w him at the bottom of the run. I introduce myself, telling him I like the way he skis and I'm looking for an instructor and ask him his name, " Reggie" he says and I start laughing before he smiles and gets out the "Crist."

The Wood River Valley is the epicenter of a regional drought so there is a lot more stake than skiing.

Something mesmerizing about watching time lapse footie of a snow stake when it's dumping. Watched the SV snow stake go from 0 at 4pm to 13" over the course of 14 hours. Looks like patrol and mtn ops has their work cut out for them.

That's what you call a storm cycle that seriously over performed!

They closed all the lifts at 2pm. It got warm on top of a very weak base so must be some serious avalanche potential. I wonder if the Bowls will open tomorrow. Daily lift tickets for Saturday are sold out.
