My car got parked for 10ish days under a tree that was dropping some sort of berry thing and the residue is stuck on there good...

Yesterday I spent about 2hrs trying to get it off the hood with Dawn dish soap and scrubbing with a towel and it didn't really work, had to use a stiffer brush that I'll surely have to buff out come spring time, and it didn't even remove all of it.

In the past I've used WD40 to get tar off, is this another situation pull that trick out? What about rubbing alcohol?

I live at ground zero for sap, and suffer from a lifelong car problem, so I deal with sap pretty much constantly.

When I was a teenager I worked for a detailer, and typically the first plan of attack is high concentration isopropyl alcohol. If it's big globs, boil some water and use the heat to soften it up first (obviously, stay away from the glass). Alternatively, you can use a blow drier or if you're really careful, a heat gun.

After that you could go with an automotive sap remover but IME most of them suck. Goo Gone works ok (it's just mineral oils and citrus). Don't use Goof Off (acetone & xylene) I know youtubers do, but it penetrates too much.

WD40 works, but it's kind of a PIA to get it off (WD stands for water displacement). 3M adhesive remover in the aerosol can (the one for pinstripes, decals, woodgrain, etc) works, but the $ could add up.

Once it's sap-free I'd do a Dawn wash, followed by a clay bar. The reg wash, and re-apply whatever sealant/ wax you like.

So if the other party is at fault and their insurance isn't cooperating--refusing a comparable rental for example--can you take the other driver to small claims court or do you have to deal with their insurance company?

Last time I dealt with that, I communicated with my insurance company. They said they would give me whatever my policy covered and then ask the other insurance company to cover the bill. That was dope.

They are. Then the insurance companies sort it out between themselves. You're never supposed to have to talk to the other person's insurer.

Good luck if the other guy has the same insurance. IME they'll figure out a way to make it both your faults.

I need to create a document that contains usernames and passwords for various sensitive accounts as well as instructions how to use them, it needs to be update able, and accessible from wherever.

It feels insecure to use some google sheet for this, but that would be easiest.

Anyone have anything that works well for them?

Yeah... don't use Sheets for that. Maybe something like KeePass would fit the bill?

Awesome suggestion. Did some redditing and decided to go with Bitwarden, this will be a big improvement in security for me, and I can easily integrate it with the google sheet I already had in mind. Thanks for the suggestion

Bitwarden is what I use a password manager personally. It works well.

How is Bitwarden for auto-updating and adding new passwords?

I've been using McAfee true key, since it's included with their anti virus. But it only works properly half the time. And tends to want to add random things like security questions, as updated passwords.

Why do some people say anit-clockwise, and others counterclockwise? I never could figure out how that disparity set in.

I've been using it for 3 hours now, and the desktop version seems to get it right most times. The android Firefox plugin has a harder time, especially with apps. It seems very customizable if you're a nerd. Worth switching? I'm not sure, worth upgrading from the password you've used for the last 10 years? Certainly.

Has anyone taken apart the motor of a kitchenaid mixer and how well did that go? And/or is it worth taking a newer (seemingly lower quality) model in for service?

My 2019-ish 5qt tilt-head model squeals badly with no load, the squeal goes away once it's kneading a big dough ball. I took it apart until I was left with the top motor unit that has a worm gear coming out. Gears and grease looked fine, the motor is still making the noise with none of that attached. Trying to decide if I should

    a) keep going with disassembly
    b) take it to kitchenaid's recommended place in Redmond and pay whatever they ask for
    c) cut my losses and buy a used older machine

    Thanks for any insight

and re: bitwarden, I've used it for 3 years happily, it very rarely does weird stuff on me. I use the iphone app and the plugin for firefox

Acceptance has been a good antidote for me. My anger usually goes with grief if I stop and think about. Usually grief that the world isn't what I want it to be. Or I'm not, but either way.

That people are who they are is a part of reality and if I'm angry about that it probably means I haven't accepted that reality yet. Figuring out what's actually real usually helps a lot with moving through bargaining and depression. Not to mention planning accordingly in the future.
A woman came up to me and said "I'd like to poison your mind
with wrong ideas that appeal to you, though I am not unkind."
