There has to be a pefectly normal, logical explanation.
Right?

Oh my. There are some stories there, both real and imagined. Are those hooks and chain on some type of ceiling runner, or just hanging isolated at those separations? And the pipe drains …
One question answered, a dozen more unearthed.

Ok that was mean to drop a few weird pics with no context but I really do want some answers for those pics as well.
But first, a real update. I started digging at the base of the pvc vent and made it down a few feet then gave up and had a G&T. I’ll keep going soon.
As to those pictures - was looking at a house for sale in the area yesterday. Really oddly laid out. It had two small metal doors at the base of the house that opened into these two small concrete bays. The chains were coming in from where the ceiling meets the back wall and had concrete poured around them, so they are permanent as hell.
The only thing I could think of was that they were installed to allow you to connect boats or something to repel down the front yard to the water.
Here’s the house: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1...ource=txtshare

Do black vehicles kill more birds? I just got a black van and have birds flying into it seemingly often. Weird.

I was thinking abattoir
But given the location, maybe marine mammal abattoir. Or long pig, as previously suggested.
That should be in RE crash thread. Sold a year ago for $1.2
Not selling a year later for 125k more. After bathroom remodels. Maybe relief from the insanity is at hand.

Guy who bought it did so impulsively without his wife’s input. She put up with the place, not liking it, for months until he finally relented and threw it on the market. Rookie move there.
After some remodel and closing costs he’s one of the few guys in the Seattle area who learned how not to make money on a real estate transaction.

After about 10 years it goes good and is fit for human consumption. I’ve been aging some in my wine cellar. Heard 2011 was a good year for it.

Name that sound:
Laying in bed this morning, all cats accounted for, suddenly there is a very loud BANG!
Sounded like it came from overhead in the attic space not something hitting the metal roof which has a distinct sound. There was no reverberation. It was crisp and sharp like a clap or shot or snap.
There is nothing in the attic space except for duct work and electrical. There was no other subsequent sound.
I did check the exterior of the house/roof but saw nothing.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis

Garage door opener spring failure. If there’s one spring the door won’t open. If there’s 2 springs they will look different because one has unwound. Plan for $3-400 to have replaced.

Yeah I'm thinking it was some sort of contraction but man was it loud. Sent both the cats straight up in the air and flying down the stairs.
Is this a guess as to my noise or an issue you're having? If it's the former then no - I've got an overhead door - the kind that roll up.“When you see something that is not right, not just, not fair, you have a moral obligation to say something. To do something." Rep. John Lewis
