Seems "thread worthy". Didn't bother to search, but there must already be something on here. Life long yank and it's not news to me that there's something going on under there.. 🤣

IIRC, it's also *way* less likely to result in a car-at-fault incident, so your fate is much more in your hands (i.e. it's safer overall, but the percentage of crashes caused by the motorcyclist is higher when splitting, which kinda makes sense).

I think they may have also found lesser magnitude of injuries when splitting, probably related to the physics of getting squished between two multi-ton vehicles when the one in front of you stops and the one behind doesn't.

I have an apple tree that is leaning over severely. Tree is very healthy otherwise. Obviously gets worse as the apples grow. Worried it's gonna come down onto the garden. Is there a product like a tree jack to provide support from underneath? ping out in my googs and amazon searching. There's a 4x4 in place at the moment, but it doesn't stay in place. Maybe just nail it and call it a day?

Have lost a few trees that are too stupid to grow roots in all four quadrants.

To save it, trim a lot of branches from the leaning side.
And install a wire brace on the other side.
But it’s a losing battle once you get the next windstorm

There are many trees in town that are supported by by metal 4"X4" pipe concreted into the ground.

That's the idea in my head. Something that anchors in the ground, but with a flange that prevents it from sinking deeper as the weight increases. On the other end maybe it has a wratcheting mechanism that allow you to set the tension and make adjustments as the tree straightens.

    That’s fucked.
Trim a shit ton off the lean side. And yeah, as suggested a permanent brace under the trunk.
Ideally a 4x4 set in cement

That’s what orchardists use here. They’re called props. Notched poles to hold the fruit laden branches. Use several. You’re tree looks fucked though

If that were my tree is cut off all the red and put a heavy duty support under that mass.

xxx could fix it with a chainsaw and aqua seal, and you can too...

But seriously, beware of trimming fruit trees before Fall if you have fireblight in the area.

Why not just cross a couple pieces of lumber underneath? Same idea, right?

Yeah ... saw that too and quickly concluded that dicknose wasn't what I wanted.

    Crossed 4x4's would probably work.

Image search tree branch supports, there's different types. The whole tree, you might have to make something.

Last time I did that I found it was cheaper to get to the airport (I had a layover that was canceled), take the RTD up to Boulder, sit and drink bourbon next to Vince Herman alone for 5 hours until the tender at the pearl street pub passed out right before the sun came up, figure out how to open the door, stumble to the bus station, catch a cat nap on a bench, then resume my space at DIA.

    YMMV.

Certainly not kid/wife friendly, but you did not specify that. Super cheap too, Vince picked up the tab, probably because I can tell a better story than he can, and he's real good.
