If the product is cheap enough that people won’t jump through hoops to ask for their money back, they can get away with it for a very long time

Same. Bought slightly more expensive ones and they work.

Yeah they can be hit or miss. I’ve had good luck with scripto, and bought a pack of Coleman’s in a hurry on my way camping and figured they would be junk but they actually work very well. I usually have a regular light stowed with the long lighter in case I need spark.

I am willing to spend a little more for a long lighter that works. I'll look for Coleman's, and plugboots, if there's a brand or link ya could share...

The Bics seem pretty reliable to me, but there's an issue with the thumb interlock thingie, sometimes it's not engaged because either you didn't press hard enough or you didn't press and then hold it before igniting, which often happens. I don't get the feeling that they're defective, just kinda touchy. ymmv.

Why do many noteworthy chefs painstakingly and with great precision place the first three teaspoons of a sauce on their magnificently plated serving platter, and then dump the rest of the pot/bowl obliterating the previous detail?

Lube, and to bring the plate up to temp. And pure pretentiousness.

No but you can purportedly put a long hollow candle in your ear and burn the wax out of it. "Ear Candling" they call it. Can be found at any store that sells nag champa, crystals, wooden wind chimes or recorder music.

Why isn’t the bidet more common in the US?

It has literally changed my life.

    Why us?

Two Walla Walla organizations receive $16 million from MacKenzie Scott

There were only seven groups in all of Washington state announced to be receiving gifts in this round and 384 nationwide. The small town of Walla Walla has two of them, leaving local leaders to wonder: Why us?

I'm ashamed to be on a forum with people who can't work a Bic lighter, and who lack the mechanical reasoning to turn up the flame of a Scripto.

Are you people that fucking cosseted?

Some friends of mine (a couple) have lost a TON of weight and I'm at a loss as to whether to say something or not. So far I've only "liked" pics they post on FB which are usually only profile pic updates. They have not said anything about resolving to lose weight, being on a diet etc. etc.

So.... when/if I see them in person do I acknowledge the weight loss or not?
