I’ve had a cdl with a clean driving record since 2002, lots of bus experience, passenger endorsement…etc. I had an informal talk about that job here and learned everything I needed to know when I was told it was the way to maybe someday work your way up into a janitor job.
So yeah, pretty revealing of how disrespectfully they view commercial driving. Ooh, really? So you’re saying maybe someday if I’m really lucky I can move on up to scrubbing diarrhea off the toilets?

Interesting sounding potential treatment drug in this study https://www.jpost.com/health-science...M2iC8-ZM6PgMTw
My favorite anti vax friend IRL posted this last night. Curious what the med folks in this thread think about it. I still contest the best approach is to not get COVID in the first place and a treatment like this in a best case scenario would be available next year. The virus is feeding now...

There's nothing to assess at this point. The performance to date is uninterpretable given the n. All hype until a controlled trial is completed. Can't be used with patients on vent. Mechanistically, it's also difficult to predict the potential of this approach given that exosomes as a drug delivery mechanism is essentially novel. Theory is that it will reduce CRS.

Wait for the results from this study.

Yes, for many, many reasons. It's not even an argument really. Case in point, people are taking about the option to receive Regeneron's antibody cocktail (REGN-COV2) versus getting the vaccine. Not sure people appreciate that getting REGN-COV2 requires an infusion.

Just read that Fox News required all employees to submit their 5G vax status early this week, paving the way toward a possible employment requirement. Oh the ironing.

I know an upstanding long time community member who has been driving school bus for 20+ years. I never asked her about the pay, but it can't be that bad because she isn't doing it for funsies. Also, county free transit bus drivers start in the 20s/hr with gov bennies. Dunno what resort bus drivers make...

It appears to the casual observer that certain states are just trying to get this over with by getting the kids sick (quarantine once and done) and letting anyone who might end up in the hospital take their shot at regeneron and a ventilator.

To Vaccinate or Not---The Rat Flu Odyssey Continues
bag’s blog time. County reopened the option to choose virtual school. Hardest decision we’ve made in a while, but we switched the unvaccinated kiddo back to virtual. The decision was driven largely by his principal basically saying “NFW I’d send my kids”, and recently reinforced by his previous teacher who said she’s concerned and that we made the right decision. This in a county with high vax rates and reasonable people in charge, so still not sure it’s the right decision.
Watched a presentation on mitigation strategies last night. Actually made me feel better about the situation for the older kid. They’re apolitical, and are working closely with health departments. Their plans aren’t perfect, but they’re well thought out and seem to be the best fit given all the issues they’re having to work around. There were some nonsense questions, but most were glossed over. One parent asked about mask exceptions. The quiet guy quickly piped in and said “it’s called virtual school”.
As frustrating as it all is, I realize we’re pretty lucky. I truly feel for those that are having to deal with less strict measures and a larger/louder group of idiots. We have them, but they’re more of an irritating sound in the background.
ETA, I learned that there’s a bunch of federal money for things like masks, hand san, better ventilation and filtration. Our county took full advantage and has done a bunch of work updating HVAC systems and carpet bombing with HEPA purifiers. Apparently there are counties that aren’t bothering and there were implications that some are using the money for unrelated upgrades. Not sure if there’s any truth to that, though.Remind me. Are you still in VA? in the Charlottesville area? My sister is in Lynchburg and she said they are at only 40% vaxxed down there. She is an administrator at her kids school and said the ridiculousness just about masks is off the charts. They still have school administrators that haven't been vaxxed, and this is a nice private school.
Meanwhile here in Aspen our elementary school is requiring vaccination for all teachers and school district employees, as well as any volunteers who come on campus, and everyone will be masked like last year. All this in a county with 70% of the eligible people fully vaccinated."They don't think it be like it is, but it do."

You all should move to Iowa. Des Moines schools just closed their admistratives offices because of a covid outbreak but they can't require masks or vaccines because of our awesome right wing state government.
Definitely sending my daughter to exposure camp Monday. In the meantime I'm at a drunken all outdoor music festival that requires vaccines or a negative test. Infinitely stricter than indoor schools in Iowa.

Yep, we’re near CVille. Our county and the one that borders us to the south make an island of reason in a sea of questionable thought. Doesn’t surprise me about Lynchburg, even private schools. There are a couple hippie schools here that are proudly pushing back. Glad to hear your school board is being sane. Our county just mandated vaccination or minimum once a week testing for all employees, including teachers and staff. Feels a little half assed but better than nothing. The impression I’m getting is that they will sack up with full vax requirements once the vaccines get full approval.
