Interesting theory. My uber athlete buddy got fucked up and still is 1.5 years later. My obese SIL got a little tired for a couple days. Just 2 data points, I know, but...

Yeah, he got it in March 2020. I've mentioned him a couple other times in covid threads. He's doing slightly better, very slowly...

Unless vaccinated, then like a 90% plus chance they will be fine

    X-er's concern is understandable ;

    I appreciate SJG's response - -

I believe it is important to recognize the situation is evolving, and
as things change, the statistical analysis will also change --

to me, the vaccination program is remarkably successful -
without vaccination, deaths were projected to be four times to five times higher. - ( millions of people in the USofA )

( significant) side effects of vaccination is on the order of magnitude of 1 / 10,000 to 1 / million(s) -
    it's not perfectly Safe
( the death of a young parent is being associated with vaccination two weeks earlier.
    Awful. beyond words... )

immunity has been shown to decline, though to-date, the decline in immunity ( shown by testing for covid ) has Not yet resulted in an increase in 'severe covid' ( necessitating hospitalization )

'breakthrough' cases of covid disease are occurring --

But - Unvaccinated, X-er's concern seems Very legitimate to me - -

far up-thread, there are claims that fitness and healthy living are of greater importance to resisting covid than immunity -

I am convicted in my belief that the fitness of a person is of no importance to a disease caused by a virus -

a phrase that comes to mind is, 'opportunistic pathogen' -
If a virus has the opportunity to cause disease, it does.

regarding covid, I have been reminded that part of the disease process may include a 'hyperimmune response' in which a (healthy) person's (hyper-)immune response to the covid infection IS a very significant part of the person's illness and disease. ...

so - while I no longer believe it is a matter of chance of developing covid clinical disease - Because of the immunity provided with vaccination,
Without immunity a person's Risk is much greater, And

effective vaccination of society can greatly reduce the spread of disease.

we can continue to make progress --

    Thank you.

You have the nicest most thought out responses, but they are combined with the worst formatting ever seen on TGR.

Pretty good article summarizing the reasons why those who have had COVID should still get vaccinated, although nothing that hasn't been discussed in this thread for months.

While your statement is factually correct, the suggestion that we don't have a "fucking idea" at the population level of who is at higher risk of developing severe disease is obviously wrong. So ultimately, I don't understand your point.

I’m starting to think he is the cleverest troll that ever lived. Nicely worded and empathetic responses formatted in such a way and so frequent that they eventually drive all readers apoplectically insane w rage

Skifishbum or our spammy troll friends would be a welcome break from the unpredictable paragraph breaks he uses lol

    thanks - I laughed - -

I certainly don't deserve comparison to the poetry of SFB
( it took me,,, years to think I had any idea what SFB means -
    ( I love SFB's stuff. and occasionally, I think I even have a clue ) )

    I apologize for this morning's "format" - keyed into a 'phone' with a three-inch screen. . .

and yet, I also acknowledge the criticism of my formatting more broadly. ... I will think about it --

(( ... Many could skip my messages - you know My cause to this thread - and it is not going to change... ))

thanks for the kind words of several ( including SFB ) - sincerely, Thank you.

maybe I will watch for more Information about the Swedish data for a couple more weeks, and then
step away from this thread for a while. . .

    anyway -
oh. old guy (?) Yes ; chain e-mail - no. what I post are my thoughts from reading and decades of field Work...

    and
I do not believe covid is a matter of chance for the vaccinated ( though Please watch for the effect of declining immunity ! ),
    and
I believe nationally we are going to fall about ten million people short of effective population immunity.

we will figure-out how to live with it, except for those of us who do not live through it
( 70,000 die annually of Influenza. ( last year was the second time I got a 'flu shot' ) )

Thank you for the kind words, and the critique - And the deserved criticism.

    let's go skiing !

    tj

    postscript -

reviewing my posts from this morning, I recognize the effect of thirty-five years of 'bullet point' lecture ( 'PowerPoint' ) presentations ( Not mine ! ), ,,, and ( something. I will think about that 'something.' Maybe If I just used the 'Return' key eighty percent Less. And . . . )

    thanks again... skiJ

not vaxed vs vaxed I should have added, you don't know how sick you will get without a vax, there is no way to tell but the ICU's are full of unvaxed people so getting a vax does seem to keep people out of the ICU and ending up likely either very sick or dead
