No, it's a little of standing in the same spot shoulder to shoulder while the press takes 1233 photos is best to put the mask on.. along with for "official" photo ops the masks messaging is important. It's no different than making sure your fly isn't open if you know it's an official photo op..

this ranks pretty low on my list of things to care about during a pandemic...in other words a bunch of politicians that are all vaccinated and that get tested on the regular are caught not wearing masks. It's bad optics, but not egregiously stupid.

You'll note Austin has no issue with all the shenanigans of GOP leaning politians such as DeSantis, Abbot, Trump, etc. who blatantly thumbing their nose at science while addressing the public, but in private are also fully vaccinated and frequently tested.

Can Austin see how the two are different? I doubt it.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

Newsflash: Politicians suck. Some a lot more than others. The degree of sucking does make a difference and is worth thinking critically about. MFís chosen politicians cheat on their wives with porn stars (who they pay $130,000 to for one fuck) while their third wife is home nursing a newborn - and later stands in front of a church holding up a bible while breathing in tear gas used to generate the photo op and role play as a christian.

Or they escape to Cancun while the state falls apart from some inclement weather.

Must be confusing as hell when you vote for a politician and then canít make your own decisions about whether or not to mimic their shitty hypocritical behavior.

Explains why 17 months and thousands of posts later he is still being confused by these simple photos.

Ben Garrison, a popular right-wing cartoonist, said he has had a rough time since contracting COVID-19, but he won't seek care in a hospital because he believes health care providers have motivation to let patients die.

Garrison, who has published multiple anti-vaccine cartoons, and his wife, both of whom are in their 60s, have had COVID-19 for about two weeks, according to Gizmodo. The cartoonist told the outlet that it's been "rough" and that he lost his sense of taste and smell, causing him to lose a desire to eat and drop 15 pounds. However, he has no plans to seek out a medical provider.

"I would never go to a hospital with COVID. Robert David Steele did it a few weeks ago and they killed him. The hospitals get extra money for COVID death reports, which is necessary to keep fear ramped up," Garrison told Gizmodo.

Steele advertised himself as one of the first people to push the theory that COVID-19 was a hoax and was vehemently opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine. In his last blog post, published on August 17, Steele acknowledged his lungs were "not functioning" but believed he would survive.

"This [has] been a near death experience, very much like a new death experience the whole country is going through right now. We will never be the same because now we know that we've all been lied to about everything," Steele wrote.

Steele denied the pandemic was real in March 2020, posting on his blog that he believed it was part of a plan to oust former President Donald Trump from office. He penned his last blog post from his hospital bed and after his death, his friend, Mark Tassi, claimed hospitals were "killing" people and advised Steele not to take the drugs he was being given.

Now we have better data. In case you missed it yesterday or the month before, in contrast with the observational Israeli study and contrary to your lies that people here are ignoring prior infection, the best available data comes from the UK where they are doing randomized testing at the population level.

In an ongoing randomized trial with over 300K people involving regular testing to determine both vaccine immunity and natural immunity during Delta, mRNA vaccine immunity performs better than natural immunity.

The blue column contains mRNA vaccinated numbers, the yellow AZ, the green column contains unvaccinated but tested positive in the past:

    Attachment 386886

The chart shows mRNA > previous infection > AZ against a low viral burden. Whereas against a high viral burden all vaccinated people had fewer symptoms when a breakthrough infection occurred compared with previous infection.

So... this says vaccines work better than natural infection, without the numerous risks of natural infection.
    Miraculous!

I don't know the credentials of the person who wrote that or the validity of the statistics and I don't care given that the site is a covid denial site, but Michael Osterholm made a similar point a month or two ago in some interview I heard--that there is an ebb and flow to virus surges that can't be completely understood by the presence or absence of anti-pandemic measures. There is still a lot to learn about this virus and anyone who is dogmatic about in any direction should reconsider. It's not just the anti-mask anti-vax crowd that's dogmatic. A lot of scientists on both sides of the booster debate are as well.

Does anyone know what the efficacy of polio or smallpox vaccines were prior to getting the diseases eradicated? Iím guessing it was far not any better than the covid vaccines and succeeded because of better uptake?

Will the contrarians insist that suppositories are better?
Hopefully there would be progress with the nasal/oral versions, that would help to reach a large..yet semi invisible group: Needle phobiacs.

Have come across it lately, an interesting yet surprisingly common issue. Two different guys that both like to portray as themselves as "Alpha Male/SpecOperator" kind of individuals. Burly, young and....not vaxxed. Gave the usual blah blah reasons of and aversion when pressed for reasons. Turned out that neither can stand blood (one basically fainted when exposed to a small cut+blood) OR needles. Dealing/practicing with hypodermics, let alone cannulas is a total no go. Hell, one had refused to go to army (yet likes camo) because he knew that he would be vaxxed.

So, basically neither cucks* want to get vaccinated because... fear needles. Wtf?

Wonder what percentage of the antivaxx crowd is just plainly afraid of needles?
In that case Oral/Nasal vaxx might be a good way of reaching that particular group.

*: While needle phobia is a real issue, in this particular case I will refer to the guys as cucks as both are vocal, toxic masculinity kind of fuckitwits.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Is this a good time to introduce the needle free LS9000 delivery system? It accesses the largest mucosal surface in the body.

Americans are so bent out of shape about the masks. THE MASKS!!

When do we put them on? When do we take them off? Why is this person wearing one? Why is this person not wearing one? Oh look at this photo; GOTCHA!!

    Here it is:
Outside - wear one if it makes you feel comfortable.
Inside with a few friends - wear one if it makes you feel comfortable.
Inside with strangers - continue wearing one until we learn otherwise.

That's literally it. Stop depending on politicians to show you how to behave. Stop caring about them so fucking much.

I donít know anything about Garrison beyond the really unfunny comics that seem to make it a point to hand deliver the punch line with a full exposition and nothing left unsaid. I was continually amazed that he was paid & people found his comics somehow clever. They were unabashedly & heavily partisan to the point of just being consistently ignored when seen.

His work spreading election lies and fear around the vaccines hurt and divided our nation and helped killed people.
