Got my moderna #1 on saturday. No side effects beyond being a bit tired today and a sore arm that got much worse after some heavy lifting but subsided within a couple hours.

As I understand it the mRNA stays in the mother's cells and is destroyed by enzymes if any leaks out. Also, mRNA is destroyed within the cell once it has made a protein. So mRNA is not passed from mother to fetus. I believe the nanoparticles containing the mRNA in the vaccine are too big to cross the placenta.

    I came across this https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5545769/
Ignore the contents, look at the date--2017. This is not rushed technology. It is years-old technology waiting for the right disease to come along. And of course people have been working on coronavirus vaccines since SARS 18 years ago. Boasting about the speed of the vaccine development was a major PR mistake--they should have emphasized the years of work that went into the mRNA vaccines.
So I Googled it and it turns out it's 7 weeks after Easter because Jesus came back to his followers (again?) In spirit (with spirits would probably have made them happier ).

A little congested and sensitive to light... that might just be because it seems like the first really bright day here in six months.

Any loose teeth or swollen gums? Might I recommend taking the inspissated juice of limes with your daily ration of grog?

For those with a sore arm after the first shot, I was assuming most of ya'll were talking along the lines of a tetanus shot. In the past, people have always hyped those up to be worse than other shots but I've never had a sore arm from a tetanus shot.

The day after Moderna #1 felt like I got kicked in the shoulder by a horse. Could barely move my arm for about a 16hr period.

Dull headache for most of a day after Moderna #1. Good thing I already banked it in as a sleep in and fart around plus random chores day! Wasn't too bad, and a day later (today) I did a 5-mile run nicely on pace with before the vax. Sorry to hear a few people had particularly bad experiences. #2 still to come.

My arm’s okay but over night other symptoms showed up.
Symptoms I had when I had COVID in 1/5 scale.
Headaches, body aches, chills, fever, stomach aches and diarrhea so far.
Going to take some Tylenol and go to work.
But it’s gonna be extra fun Monday.

    Not looking forward 2nd shot.

Got first pfizer shot saturday, then spent the day doing yard work/garage clean out with the wife. Hell of a lot more sore from that than the shot.

Outside of a sore shoulder and a little fatigue, no big ill effects from Moderna #1 a few weeks ago. Had number 2 yesterday afternoon and woke up at 2am with a mild fever and chills. Dropped a couple of Tylenol and just feel low grade shitty this morning. Probably skip the mountain bike ride today, and reevaluate tomorrow.

Interesting. I would've thought they'd have a leg up on the competition.

Umm... Let's see here. Location of virus origin. Biolab studying coronaviruses there at ground zero in Wuhan where they at least knew of this particular virus's existence before we did. What else do you want? All I'm saying is that they literally had several months of a head start on us, and we should be giving companies like Pfizer and Moderna credit where credit's due.

Define several. I don’t think 3-4 months is several. We even knew sooner than that. What’s your point again?
