My wife and I showed up to Snowmass at 8:30a and saw the longest lines we had ever seen for VX and the Gondola, which doesn't even open until 9. My COVID anxiety spiked looking at the disaster of lines snaking up and down from the VX corral so we cruised over to Highlands after much debate. There were very few lines over there and patrol got the bowl open pretty early all things considered, I want to say around 11a. It wasn't 20" but I got a few face shots without trying on my 118mm waisted skis. The higher water content snow is great, definitely what we needed, but once skiied it was pretty rough. Maybe Slaughterhouse will run at a decent level this year.

Complaining about snow quality at highlands yesterday!!! Seriously!
If you couldn’t find virtually untracked late in the day you weren’t looking hard enough.

Wow sensitive much? Not a complaint, a commentary on the type of snow and how it was after it had been skiied. I had great turns up to the end of my day, thanks for your concern.

Lol...you PNWers loving yesterdays snow and then the subsequent comments are entertaining.

It’s ok for some of us to not love skiing heavy chop...although I had no problem bouncing through at high speeds with my weapon of choice yesterday.

Anyhow...I stick by it was what we needed, was fun to ski, but hopefully going forward we have some of the lighter snow many of us are used to (and prefer).

Forecast is looking great and tomorrow should be fun...as will the next week. Love me some February!

Other than the first run or two, today was better than yesterday and the mountain was empty.

    So empty.

Front side skied great and no one around.

It's Sunlight's turn to get in on the action, it's still snowing in Glenwood too.

Speaking of powder frenzy yesterday. I saw a stoat and a mouse in an epic whirling battle on the DT cat track. The mouse ran away when I distracted the stoat by skiing by.

    Good to know.

Some serious drifting going on at the Ajax snow stake cam. Seems like a day to choose your aspects carefully.

With 15” reported at Irwin and only 2-9” between Snowmass, Highlands and CB I’m going to guess some aspects should ski very deep.

Solid under report morning, but I’m sure the Ikoneers will still be rolling in for the post-hype

Makes sense. I ended up with about 5 inches yesterday afternoon/evening, and I'm down at 7500 feet.

We're still awfully lucky here when it comes to crowds. At my former home hill in Washington, it was pretty normal to do one run every 1-1.5 hours on a weekend because of how long the liftlines were. "I skied bell-to-bell and did 5 or 6 runs today" was commonly heard.

No doubt. I skied hundreds of days at Stevens then Vail and Breck before moving here. No comparison and I’ve never had a day that truly justifies complaining about the lines (vs casual bitching).

    Ripped Campground hard this morning.

Grilled brats on the Shadow Mt. deck and drank the Veuve.

Caught patrol dropping the rope on Bingo in the afternoon.

Nice to have good snow again

    Well played, sir. Indeed.

Didn't ski today, but did grill brats last night.

Tomorrow, ski, bowl lap, and then maybe a little football.

It's so good to have snow. Now if we could do something about this apparent virus.

    You looking for a job?

Stoked to see so many people pumped here.

Those VX lines had been going quickly.... from what I understand.

Still nothing compared to the ish shows I've seen online at our neighbor to the northeast.

knumbskull, if you think they're sensitive now, wait until the roundabout/82 project.

First (hopefully) completely normal summer after COVID and they're going to rebuild the roundabout. Should be fun for us worker bees who have to commute into town every day.

I'm half hoping there is still some COVID around this summer so I can milk the working-from-home gig and avoid that mess.

I think it's slated for summer of 2022. We are probably screwed.

Damn, I guess I should have read the dates more carefully!
