She's looking right at home there Djongo.

And Marshall and I may have to do a mini at Beech just to sample the Slayer-Parton-Dead mashup being played at the base when SYF is bumping chairs.

    workin' as a liftie

    A few things:

Thunder at JH seems to always be throwing out the Dead. Vibe is off the charts. You do you with the music SYF.

You’re in NC. Can’t you just wear flip flops?

Have a shtick and let yourself be a little weird. Interesting is better than professional. By a lot.

When it gets tough turn the tunes up.

Play the entire Dr. Octagon album, Dr. Octagonecologyst, straight through on your first shift.

People will be confused, funked up and mildly afraid all at once.

    workin' as a liftie

I think for the true elevated liftie experience, one has to use the weather and mood of the day or season to choose the music on a daily basis

Blue Flowers and Bear Witness are standouts but the whole album should be celebrated in order.

Also, the entire album Handsome Boy Modeling School by Prince Paul and Dan the Automator should make at least one appearance a season.

I like severe mood swings over the course of a few tracks in a playlist. From metal to opera and back with a stop at most everything in between. And definitely hit skip if a tune isn't bringing it.

I think we’re probably going to need an album/ playlist post mortem discussion after each of your shifts.

In Japan they also have speakers on the lift towers so you can continue enjoying the song all the way up

Wanker Park has reinstituted liftie music over the course of the last few years and I'm a big fan. It really helps settle out the vibe on the business mornings at the gondi. Some Floyd or good Zepplin really helps the burner Gen Xers feel like we are in control...and we need that. Because really, for better or for worse, we kinda run the show now. Old enough to know whazup, young enough to still be a bit relevant.

Many a shit hole southern new england bumps roll this way as well. Jimminy Peak, Brodie, Bosquet...I imagine if you eliminate the racer vibe, this is pretty similar to skiing in NC once you swap camo for jean jackets.

Add trashcans under the lift with basketball hoops strapped to them and you have the midwest hills.

Yep. Many an enjoyable evening skiing growing up with the sounds of tunes from the lift towers and scraping of edges below you.
