But now, at least in France, you can go for 20km, so for people that live near a ski area, they can go Backcountry skiing.

“Closing is simply not an option,” said Christophe Darbellay, president of Valais canton, home to resorts such as Verbier, Crans Montana and Zermatt. “People will be skiiing and eating in our resorts at Christmas.” Restaurants in the canton should be open again by mid-December, Darbellay said.

You think the powers that be would agree to adding lifties to the list of critical workers getting the vaccine first so we can keep the lifts turning? Maybe we should start a petition.

A ski resort spread coronavirus across Europe. Austria and Switzerland are eager to reopen slopes anyway.

For the Swiss to swallow a resort-shutdown pill again would be tough.

I have not seen these places in a very long time. But it seemed to me the vibe. The culture was very different. Are people who normally ski FR going to swamp CH to ski or just get away to the mountain?

It's the mountain community that's very unhappy, most of us are independent operators and stand to loose a lot.

As of now I can still go to risky switz for 24h without Quarantine. You guys in Bavaria. Not so much.
If it ever snows there will be no ski trip but day trips.
But there is no snow in the forecast so the whole discussion is moot.
