Long boards didn't leave the lot, on account of mad spring pow. Such great skiing. Everything buffed smooth over the week... no moguls.

I have some pics on the big cam to share but that'll have to wait till tonight. Headed up now with my daughter.

Absolutely beautiful day today. The 5-6 inches of fresh rode nice in the AM until it warmed. Shady areas held some good Stashes. Of course right side nash fall line was great. Skiing chalky sluff mid April is great.

Nice pics Norse. Was good to meet you and the others. Wish I could have stayed longer, but was happy for the fresh turns and the tasty sips of bourbon!

Looks like it was a great weekend. I wish I could have made it over, but as the saying goes... never leave pow for pow.

Many more lift upgrades will follow over the next decade. At Alpental, fixed grip triple chairs are planned to replace both Sessel and Edelweiss. Perhaps most exciting will be construction of the International lift, a project first conceived decades ago. “The long-awaited International Chair at Alpental will be a fixed-grip triple dropping skiers and riders in the best spot for accessing Lower International, Snake Dance, Felson & Back Bowls, providing a whole new way to access some of the most popular terrain at Alpental,” says The Summit. Another key focus at Alpental will be installation of remote-operated avalanche control systems to open terrain faster during storm cycles

They should just use all that money to jack the mountain up another 1000ft

I'm stoked they are sticking to triples with the Alpental upgrades, especially International (I remember when it was slated to be a high speed quad). Seems like a good balance between uphill capacity and snow preservation.

Hmm. Not a very forgiving zone. Better staff up patrol.

Yea. They’d have to if that pic is accurate, the chair goes out to knoll 1.

Hidden Valley Triple Chair coming in 2022 - cool. The littles love Hyak. Props to Snoqualmie for investing.

Yeah, the Internationale Chair has been discussed for years. I'll believe it when I see them putting in towers. A triple on 2 doesn't make sense if they are putting in Internationale. That said, I hope they can get these done without increasing the cost substantially. Passes are already up 30% in the past 5 years.

To put a finer point on it. Where are all the people going to park to use the capacity of
+ upgraded chair 2 => to three seats
+ upgraded sessel with more capacity
    + international chair

That seems like a lot more lift capacity for some already full parking lots. I like short lift lines as much as the next guy, but how will that be financially viable without jacking tickets? That said it would really open the mountain up.

Shorter lift lines because parking is full sounds good to me I can get my ass out of bed for that.

Always surprised at all the lift improvements at Hyak considering its open probably less than 25 days a year.

Lift improvements at Alpi, I'll believe it when I see it. It's been in their master plan for years.

Three seats on Chair 2 is a bad idea logistically. There is not enough space in that offload zone for that traffic.

Also, what manufacturer still produces a fixed grip?

The website mentions some parking lot regrading and expansions, though I’m not sure there’s anywhere to expand the Alpy lots.

Skytrac and Doppelmayr for sure, probably others. All the chairs put in at Bridger Bowl since 2001 except Slushmans (PK, Bridger, Alpine, Powder Park, VC) are fixed-grip triples from those two brands.
