So SVS got up and tried to ski after you dug him out? If that isn't proof he's a savage mf'er, I don't know what is. I hope to one day be that level of tough.

Yeah he’s a savage beast. Traversed out to a safe spot on his own power. Almost didn’t even need help clicking into his skis...

Yeah, it was pretty crazy. Then as we waited for patrol, he was getting cold sitting down, so he stood on his messed up leg for over an hour to stay warmer. He's a beast

You guys give me too much credit. I fucked up...big time. Almost left my kids without a dad. I ignored several red flags from earlier in the day. I had numerous run ins with slough that day and the day before to the point I should've been skiing much more conservatively given those factors. The wind also played a role loading up that slope. I told my partners before dropping in to be careful for windslabs.

I'd also say don't be too hard on yourself. That accident could have happened to anyone. You're still around for a reason. Not everyone gets a second chance. I don't think it was a coincidence that I hooked up with you and thefortrees for those last couple laps. I know I learned a lot from what happened, too.

I wish I was there with you mags. I committed to a ski tour earlier in the week for Saturday and had to work Friday. Glad SVS is going to be ok. Looked like a great time

FKNA Vic. Glad you're breathing and mostly in one piece. Life changing moment I imagine. Thanks to your rescuers as well. Heal up quick mang.

Spent many minutes on the 634-0200 line. Steven’s only line was 634-1645. Iirc.

Seems like one of the operators on the snow line was a Ted Bundy victim. I think that was before my time though.

Did nobody ski shot six back then? It basically doesn't even exist on that map. I'm sure it's a tough ski on 70s equipment...'
Apparently Mt. Rainier used to be pointy too. It's no Niehues...

The breakeven on passes was 22 days, compared to 5-6 days now.
$185 season pass inflation adjusted = $750 now
$8.50 day ticket inflation adjusted = $27 now, wowza

I'm very glad to see they're going to run Friday of closing weekend.

Skiing until midnight? That's gotta be a rare thing in the U.S. I wonder how long it lasted for.

Hope it's smooth sailing on the mend there.

My last time at Alpy, random day between Christmas and New Year's four or five years ago, with a New Mexibro, it was puking and the high T was closed. But it was too good and I wanted to show him so we were just going anyway. It was so good. We were pointing it, hucking stupid shit in Trash Can and elsewhere, lucky we didn't eat it skiing into a hole or get caught in a gully. That was a fun day.
