    Who's moving to Arkansas?

They might give you $10k and a "bike" to move to Northwest Arkansas as a remote worker. Hundreds of miles of trails vs. hundred degree heat and humidity? How many Ogdens is Bentonville?

If you squint just right, some of those trails have several dozen feet of vert. Sounds sick.

One of my good friends just moved there, and loves it. He is one of the best natural riders I know. (Scott Fitzgerald).
He lives and breathes cycling advocacy, both professionally and personally, and said he hasn’t found anywhere in the world more forward thinking about cycling and society that the Bentonville area.
Granted, he spends his summers here, so he is getting the best of both worlds, in some senses.

    Of Fitzgerald bike shop?

My midwest friends go their every winter and say it's damn fun. Locals can ride all winter, I would guess. Is that the place where the Walmart siblings paid to build all / some /most of the trails?

Yes and I assume that $10k incentive comes from Walmart as well.

Nothing wrong with them building trail.

The economics of the incentive are interesting....

It’s for executive employee retention as well as a civic experiment, IMO.
For years the ‘best and brightest’ just didn’t want to stay in Arkansas.

in bentonville it's also a way for Walmart to attract more executives to move there

since powder magazine is done, we've been reading back through a bunch of the old mags from the garage "library" and came across a Dirt Rag article from a few yrs ago talking about how much improving trails / adding trail networks improves the overall business community too.
I have read this elsewhere too but it's good to be reminded bikes = good

edit you guys beat me to it while I was typing but walmart straight up talks about it as recruiting tool at the exec level

    Who's moving to Arkansas?

Shouldn’t this be called the ***vibes*** thread?

Just saw a job posting this week in my field in NW Arkansas. Partners family lives there and the riding is stellar. But I’d rather live in Vermont. At the least there are less confederate monuments in the town squares.Click image for larger version.

A "gifted" bike. My wife was reading this out from another source and said it was $600 toward a bike. Which is probably a lot more attractive than the gifted option.

Just went to zillow and looked at the housing stock in Bentonville and holy hell, I have never seen such an insane bent toward the worst of what new construction mcmansions have to offer. And they are not even that cheap.
