Feeler WTB: tecnica cochise 110, 25

I used to think I liked stiff skis and now I prefer more forgiving. I wonder if I might feel the same way about boots.

I don't need these and it's kind of a hunch so I don't want to spend too much, but I'm not that concerned with their condition and I don't need liners if you only have shells.

I have 1st Gen shells. They’ve been punched and I don’t think I have liners

    Edit: They’re 120s not 110s.

I'm skiing 120s now... want to try a little softer.

    Thanks though.

Might even entertain 100s. You know... for science.

do up the power strap on your boots around liner only (between liner and shell)

that will make hte boot 10% softer and if you like it cut the inside/lower cuff down 5mm both sides

Good tip... thanks, I'll try that.

I am not sure you will notice much flex different between the 110 and 120... The liner quality is the most discernable difference.
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

So I tried this today, but it's tough to fine tune how tight you get that upper strap underneath the shell. I often fine tune how tight that strap is with the 3rd buckle done up tight... and the shell is closed with that buckle done up so no room for small changes.

That said, I did kind of like the softer flex... just not sure I liked it enough to alter my shell... not yet, anyway.

    Thanks for the tip.

Question: is this approx. 10% less about the same as going down to a 110 from 120?

Might still be interested in a 105w or even a 100... soft boot for easy days and cruising with the wife... 120 for more energetic days.

    Following up on this...

I found it tough to get the power strap only around the liner.

Would it be a bad idea to cut the top of the front of the boot cuff so the strap sits on the liner more easily? I.e. to the horizontal level shown by the strap behind the cuff.

I know this change is permanent... just trying to figure out if this is a reasonable solution to slightly soften the boot or if it's a bad idea.

I have already shaved down front of the clog by about 7 or 8mm and will see how that works before I commit to this change.

Maybe put the technica powerstrap in a box for when you resell them and bolt on a rubber ski strap. Lighter, nice even flex rather than a static stock powerstrap and thinner if you want it just on the liner.
I try it around the shell though. Swapped my booster straps for orange rubber ski straps on my vulcans and my hawx xtd 130's and they work great. Quick and ez adjust too

Yeah that is worth a try as well.

I'm basing this idea on mntlion's suggestion to run the strap behind the cuff, buy having difficulty pulling that off on this boot.

I love the elastic power strap that came on the old cochise and I don't know why they replaced it with something with no flex on this boot.

Someone said booster had rights to the flex strap and now its expired and we'll see boot companies with their own. I have a hard time believing domeone could have rights to a strap that flexed but it is strange that all the boot companies dont do it on a majority of their boots. They do make boots so much more comfy, especislly after a long day on the hill.
