We may try a noonish start tomorrow
Had to look up what ER was, forgot they renamed red after putting those shitty chairs from old HRM lift there. Lift lines doesn't look too bad considering upper mountain is closed and I'm sure 80% of Hood river is on the hill today for first day of the season.

The New and improved Oregon 2020/2021 Ski Season Thread

Got 2nd chair up Stadium, then rode SSX until 11:30. It is howling out there and that kept the lift lines small at Star (looks like I timed it well as it’s on wind hold now)

Storm riding for sure all morning

I ate my turkey leg in the truck and took a tour of the new building

    Sorry no pics

& riding with the buff up was unpleasant...it soaked thru by my 4th run

    Oh well, whatever it takes
Not really any staffed line management but they had lines marked out ok
People were good about taking turns and teaming up singles
I even rode a 4some all singles. People were pretty chill today from what I could tell

Felt more like January than November! So deep in the all the right places. Felt good to get back to lift-served storm skiing. Lift lines were better than expected - nice to have so much terrain open already. Epic start to the season.

The new chairs on Red were designed by Sky Track, not Yan chairs, except they're both outside bail chairs. Yea, they suck balls

What time did you get into the lot, and how many rows back?

Off to buy a Snowpark and put on studs

Welp, bought the wife a new Subie. And just like that I have a pass. Wasn't even thinking about it until they told me. Guess I'll be back on snow with a Fusion pass. T-line is pretty meh, but I'll be stoked when the bowl fills in.

Keep saying that. Then all my little Timberflats stashes are safe. There'll be a good spell when it is going off at skibowl. Especially in a La Nina year. Damn climate change though is fucking with the snow levels and shortening the ski bowl season.

Closed out the second half of the day in near whiteout conditions lapping the bowls off Mex. Not a bad way to start the season.

Kinda slow until very late in the day. Very
few full chairs and lots of wind holds/pauses.

MHM main lot full on a Tues with only passholders showing up
(altho, cams show small lines without even Vista or Cascade open)

"first few days of passholders only" really sounds like Sat will be first full open -- parking is gonna be a challenge with the full public access

Crazy that cascade is open on the second day of the season
Didn't it take forever to get that open last season?

Makes for more room in the water, if you're willing to swim with sharks.

And yes, I have the same recollection about it taking a long time last year.

Rolled in close to 10 and even HRM was parked out towards the nordic center. Surprisingly it was just walk-on lifts though.

Enter meadows parking shitshow even on weekdays

The current passholders only situation also includes passholders from last year who didn't renew. I know the website says it's only for a few days but according to an email I got last week they're not planning on selling day tickets until Dec 21st when people can no longer use last years pass.

The unmitigated gall! I don’t believe I’ll ever be able to love again.

If they’re able to keep Cascade and/or Vista spinning it keeps the crowd dispersed and the lines moving, here’s hoping.

There was a long winded email months back that broke down what they were offering and I don’t remember all the details. I’m not sure if it includes spring passholders or just the full season passholders

It was an awesome first day, started bright and early around 12:40 ish. 5th row in HRM lot. Never had HRM open on my first day of the year, or had Cascade turning. MHM did an awsome job getting the lift mazes, and the top of Cascade in condition to open this early. I can't remember the last time this much was open this early, great job.
