I heard bachelor was well bachelor. A total shitshow•clusterfuk•turd in the toilet. However, the D00 was spectacular mid thigh medium density pow. 6 glorious runs before work. But cutting lines on the job is ok too. Sorry tbs it was a powday so you know the story on that. The riff raff better get off my snow Monday at bachelor.

The New and improved Oregon 2020/2021 Ski Season Thread
Meanwhile at 6:45a in HRM...
Would have been front row but got bogged down in 16” or so of pow
ODOT finally showed up at 715 & told us to get out. Seeing they had plowed Twilight [priorities?!?], we hid in there instead of getting booted out to 35. Then, back for front row when they cleared it and released the hordes from 35
But at that point, no 8.30a load...mattig was slaying our pow from the frontside

Still plenty of cold, dry snow on the right aspects today!

Well folks, I witnessed some real displays of disgusting humanity today at T-Line. Before we even got on the slopes watched a guy trying to “save” a parking space for his “family.” 1. WTF, are you 5? 2. There’s no saves-ies in the parking lot! Ok, got that out. This wasn’t enough. Another random person decided they wanted to park in the “saved” spot. Saver-dude wasn’t having it and tried to stand in the way. Random dude literally backed up into Saver-dude 4-5 times. It was astonishingly poor judgement on all sides. Come on people, mellow out! It’s Oregon for Christ’s sake, weed is legal. Smoke, eat, vape some and chill...
once on the slopes the snow was good early on Molly’s. Shocked to find fresh lines leftover from yesterday. Warmed up quick tho and the snow setup. Still fun and fast but changing as the morning wore on. Lift lines were insane (Pucci was down most of the morning). People were, for the most part, cool about the long lines. Did hear a lot of “they’re opening Mile” and “I heard the Mile is gonna turn.” No folks, if the barn doors up top and down low are closed, Mile ain’t turning... If you look up and see the barn doors open up top, there’s a chance it’ll run; if they’re closed and the cable isn’t turning either, don’t get your hopes up.

@MHSP - It’s a “powder” weekend in The Time Of Covid. Set expectations low
The one weekend day I’ve been to MtB this season was a shitshow -and not even a holiday. I knew yesterday at the Doo would be a shitshow by 1000 but went wit the expectation of a few leftover powder laps before the GORGs were geared up. Workable strategy for a 20 mile drive
BTW jonesy I met S&O’s parents yesterday. A pleasant, complementary and hilarious discussion. Details tomorrow

Managed to just miss NWX opening by "that" much. Anyway, I was still close enough to score lots of freshies on the way down to the waiting hoards. Decided not to go back for 2nds. Was already getting warm before 11am.

My dog sure thought so!
Little miss is ready for her first lecture on dry snow metamorphism
Hot damn it was a glorious day today. I totally thought about just taking a nap at this spot.
Not sure how many of these adventures I’ve got left in me ... kid is getting heavy AF (especially when trailbreaking warm pow) and those damn Burley/Thule ski trailers are so much $$$$$!!!_______________________________________________

Pics from this weekend...
Saturday... My best day ever at Tflat:
And Sunday from the trailhead.. (not us.):
I echo MHSP's sentiment about Sunday. But, by 11 or so, Pucci got running and the crowds did thin. So we were able to almost ski onto the lifts. Upgrading the experience from the early liftline clusterfuck. Snow started to soften around noon and the skiing got decidedly springlike. I love skiing spring snow. Breaking out the warm wax for this week.
Both days were great.

Sunday was pretty awesome, at least after it softened in the sun.
Since I didn't get to enjoy the free refills Thu/Fri (mostly because I has stuff to do, and thought visibility was likely to be "teh suck" - so my own fault) - well Sunday was a pretty nice consolation prize.
I love spring skiing.
No pics though - I was too busy having fun!
I'd guess every day through Thursday's going to be pretty awesome, if you like sun and softened mid-day snow.

Heading up to Meadows to spend a day with a gf. This is her first year skiing so looking to have a pretty low key day. She's comfortable on greens and just barely edging into blues. I see they do a "beginner progression pass" which includes Ballroom Carpet, Buttercup, Easy Rider, Daisy and Vista Express for $89. Is this worth it or should we just buck up for the full pass? What time do we need to get there to ensure a parking spot on Saturday? Is there a shuttle? Thanks collective!

There is a bus from hood river, but I’ve never used it. not sure about coming from the other side. 8am will get you a parking spot. How much more is the full pass? A lot more options for easy to intermediate variety (and with better snow, visibility, and shelter from wind) if you can get on other lifts - hrm, shooting star. If it is windy and/or snowing heavily, vista won’t be open (it’s above treeline). The other lifts you mentioned are bunny hills and I think you’d both get bored quickly.

Going with the full pass could be worth it if only to allow for more options to avoid lift lines. There's plenty of blue/green terrain accessible from Vista to keep a newb interested but the line-up for vista is frequently very long. If you want to park in the main lot it seems to fill up around 8ish on busy days.

A full pass is $130. Kinda steep if we're just going to be skiing greens all day. There's also a 2pm option for $69 which could be a good move. We'll be up late the night before and I'm assuming parking will be much more doable at 2, so maybe this is the move. Maybe show up at 1 to get a beer beforehand and beat the evening rush. Thanks for all the good info

Seriously, don’t try to teach your gf how to ski.
I’m speaking from experience.
