I live with my dad now as we are both divorced. He is 77 with some medical issues but doing fine and I am 53. We are pretty much opposite on most stuff but both very chill. Seems to work okay as we have not killed each other....yet.

Be an upstanding citizen IMO. Treat people with respect, take care of the family, and fix shit that is broken.

Tell the same story over and over, apparently. News to me, but my wife assures me it's true

Have certain inviolable moral standards that are absolute.
Work my ass off when it’s time to work.
The man also freaking never ever complained about personal discomfort. He could have 4 broken bones and frostbite and you’d never know. I try but am not quite up to that standard.
Lest you get the wrong idea, dude has a wild side and a truly colorful life. I like to think we are not that different there either.

My Dad and I were very different people but something of his I've picked up, big time, is being completely shocked and blown away by current prices. Not even big ticket stuff, petty stuff.
"Jessuz Christ, this bag of oranges cost six bucks?!" "A shitty fast food combo is 11 bucks now?! Shit, never again" Two days later..
Also for bonus points, being completely clueless on any main stream musician, actor etc. Any time I watch a new SNL, when they announce the guest host and musical act, I'm always "Who? Never heard of em, wth".

I find myself using the same mannerisms and language the older I get...we work at the same company and he’s been here 40 years so I hear about it from lots of people.
Also timely post, just finished watching Field of Dreams in MLB network, I can’t not get choked up at the end...such a good movie.

Coffee instead of milk on corn flakes. I always thought it was a strange way to eat cereal as a kid. Not sure if it was something he picked up growing up in the Depression or when he was in the military during WWII, but I will eat a bowl of corn flakes that way.
