Or maybe a cabal of young Tiburon techbros pooling their bitcoin to buy the place where all the cool kids ski.

Actually, Ned seemed really ok with it.
I think he may have just married a gal too.
She started and ran the succesful Headwall sports before selling to some east coast tech bro who then hired a real DB to run it. All downhill there now.
He's still in great shape and seems to be happy skiing the ghee and the pass. Told me already bought his season pass, stoked.
One of the few solid ski bums that was also a business success.
I used to race he and Clint to the goods back in the day.

Headwall sports has some of the most unfriendly people working there that I’ve ever experienced. WTF is up with that? I’ve gone in a few times and always different people working acting like douchebags.

I'll take that bet.
I guess that's kind of a reason. Buying the cool.
I'd prefer it be someone not from a desert. We have enough shitty drivers here from places where it doesn't snow.
Although I can't disagree with that.
Best case scenario would be a billionaire who wants it for the place, not the profit potential.

^^^^^^
While the tram was being replaced, I remember those 2 had lockers at the top of the gondy. They'd be standing at Thunder, first in line as we raced to get there. Sons o' guns.

Those tramless winters are what got me to stay here. I was some junkshow busboy but got early ups by offering to fold some napkins occasionally and it was glorious. The second winter notably with 600" and it snowed basically every day but 10 or something the mountain was open. Skiing will never be that good again anywhere.
I'm still a junk show by most accounts but no longer a busboy. Onward and upwards!Live Free or Die

Yes. It’s $45,000 a night, but good news, we accept Bitcoin.

$15k a month for a Wilson shanty. Wtf.
Good friend is in that hood with a deed restriction home. Happy for her. But she works and contributes to the community.. . .

I know this house as I lived in an actual shanty down the street.
It's pretty nice and all and definitely not shanty caliber but def. not a 15k a month house.Live Free or Die

The 2 seasons that the tram was being replaced:
'06-'07 - about 300"
'07-'08 - about 600"
That lift in the bowl turned out to be a godsend.
The first year the only good skiing that didn't get hammered from the pow starved hordes, was in the bowl.
Racing the gondy locker owners to that chair to make laps in R bowl was the best until peeps showed up, about 5 chairs in.
The second year, if you could get to the bowl first, it was the rarest of occasions to actually be skiing deep pow laps in the bowl, over and over. And on many different days.
With a tram, you gotta go the whole route to get back up and into the bowl.
That phenomenon will likely not be seen again in our lifetimes.
That first year Marky Mark A. skied Corbets well over 100 times. On the boniest of days...
He'd punch the goatpath and bank hard right, go back to the chair in the bowl and ski it again.
He eventually got banned lifetime. He was a surly one, but hilarious.
I remember skiing bowl laps with Parris on his new ski shape, the 'Doobie'.
Predated those DPS138's methinks. Speed slipping at mach 3.

Nope. Had a pair of og 138s. Sold them.
Then 2008 had black top sheet and bamboo sidewalls lotus 120 200cm ski and I remember fondly lapping the bowl with no lift lines and waist deep pow. Fkna! We lapped all day.
That’s a memory I want on my deathbed. I still feel tingly thinking about that day.

Although not as many as 5 years ago, there's an amazing amount of peeps who live in " an actual shanty ".
I've known a few who lived in the space beneath a stairwell, in a village condo basement storage unit and a shed that had to be 75 years old. RJ's big cat dealt with the mouse concerns pretty handily.

I have been holding back cuz I live in the neighborhood and I know those folks.
One works for the school district and the other owns a small business and grew up here. So, not some tech guy that came in last year and now trying to cash in on rent $. The family has a great opportunity in education far from here for the season. Can’t blame them for going for it. The fella that grew up here never left outside of school as far as I know. Want to chat about how this valley went downhill…good place to start.
Still 15k/month blows my mind. I hope someone decent rents it. I still won’t be able to look at whoever is in there for the winter with a straight face tho after forking over that kind of cash.

I remember how the silver fox would have to brace herself to bump that summit chair. It was heavily weighted to run in the wind. The 600“ winter was my first of eight years in the hole. Miss that place, sounds like it’s facing some challenges.
