Posting back here to say that my heart is with you, my Kirkweed, Sierra, Xmas Valley, Myers and SLT peeps.
Stay strong everyone -
Gotta take times like these minute by minute hour by hour. I hope everyone north of Elks Club already has their shit packed. Local mags please do what you can to help each other out._______________________________________________

Offering a piece of driveway in Santa Cruz for anyone who needs to escape down to the coast. Air has been very decent down this way. Watching and praying/ hoping for the best up there.

Has there every been a ski area to burn down? Fire came right to the boundary of Crystal ski area a few years ago. Curious how well those lift towers hold up to the flames.

Firefighters risking their lives to protect a ski area. I know we're all appreciative, hard to be appreciative enough.

Obvious example is the Gondola Fire at Heavenly in 2002 (started by a cigarette butt). There was also a fire at Purgatory last fall but it was relatively small.
Pretty clever to fire up the snow guns.

If you put in Alpine county in that link you can see how extensive the evac order has become. Anyone in SLT yellow zones is hopefully leaving now before the bigger winds come. Although I’ve heard of employers demanding people stay at work until evac order comes.
