I heard about the avalanche death in the Rubies, but know no details. Called Ruby Heli last week, and they said they were going through a major avy cycle that basically mirrored what Utah has been experiencing. Said they had seen "Hundreds of 2, 3, 4 sized natural avalanches across the range".

What we saw this weekend was the facet layer improving through melting and consolidation (where we were at least). Snow was very good.
Wow. Kind of hoping to see what happens behind doors number 1, 2, or 3 below.

Nothing too crazy, since the nearest hospital (battle mountain?) isn't even exactly close, and basin snowpack is often thin...

Indeed.. That was a great video!

I spend a ton of time on bike and moto trips out there every year, but aside from skiing Patterson a couple of years ago I just never get it together. Central NV is very cool, though.

Mud is wicked out there right now, almost got ridiculously stuck on Saturday night. "Trenchtown" is both a ski condition and road condition apparently.

That's a really well-edited vid. I could see that in the BC film fest or Banff.

Culling my quiver and posting here in hopes of local pickup:
188 Sky 7 HD with Look/Dynafit HM/Rotation 10 binding on demo tracks and rossi custom pomoca skins $700
188 Chugach w/ Rad ST demo and dynafit speedskins $475
    185 ZeroG 95 w/ Zed 12, G3 ski crampons, and nylon skins $600
189 Fischer s-bound 112 (waxless XCD) with Voile 3-pin + cables and ez skin (kicker) $250?

If interested, send pm instead of cluttering up the thread. Cheers!

Now THAT is some STOAK!! I'm feeling it - thanks bud

PD, gimpy - awesome stuff as usual - thanks for sharing peeple!

Loved that mellow pow cycle the last couple weekends - found some new zones, explored stuff I've never skied at the Resort before. I think 90% of the time, I like the small storms better at the ski area - less feverish excitement, no friends driving/flying in from Washington or Wyoming, much less the BA-driven Bay Area madness, ski onto KT at 9:15, then ski pow everywhere all...day...long

    ^^^^absolutely.

I think it was 14/15 where we barely got a 12” storm all winter and I skied endless ghost town powder days of 8” and no lift delays. Fucking brilliant.

Powdork. I watched a YouTube video last night where you jacked up your leg.

Is that recent? Are you out of commission

I think I figured it out. Youtube just decided to push out an old one in the recommend feed.
