Based on your location yesterday you must be talking about the castle area and not Carson pass.

    Fuck that’s terrible news

Post control slide on Headwall face yesterday--no one caught, per my son who saw it go.
This morning they were bombing the piss out of Sugar Bowl again.

The report on Frog Lake Cliffs
Stepped off his sled and didn't realize how close he was to the cornice. Large section broke of and he and a large avalanche went with it. He was found below on the surface by another party who witnessed the incident and initiated CPR but his injuries were incompatible with life.

I've seen a couple of reports of people breaking off cornices lately. A reminder for the few of you who don't know--a cornice tends to break along a line that's an extension of the slope below, not vertically from the inboard edge of the underside of the cornice--in other words, there could be snow, not air, below your feet and you could still wind up breaking off the cornice and going with it.

It's the anniversary y'all. What a freaking year. Props to all who stayed home and masked up or went out and did what was needed to keep you and others alive through this. Prayers up to those no longer with us and those left behind.

The rlp slides yesterday were from my group......someone in our party reported to sac upon return home.....no incident. First one that the sac observer took a pic of was half expected in a shot we call repeat offender That broke below 2nd skier in that line...... second one was legit scary where it broke above him but was able to safely auger in that little rocky prominence lookers left side of crown

Turns out I knew the victim. Good guy, left behind a wife and teenage girls. Tragic. I'll be thinking about this for a while when heading out into the BC.
