I bet he's in Glenbrook or that general area. But I'll keep an eye out for Shannon Tweed at the Incline Raley's.

Red rocket! Don't slip. Crazy what the wind did, last week this was sluffy and glorious perfection. Much more variable, and firm this time around.

This weekend dropping into da h@ng3R:

We had multiple parties tell us "We figured you either knew exactly what you were doing or had absolutely no idea what you were doing".

AKBruin: I'm working on your east wind analysis question...we just wrote a paper on winds and found a small trend towards more frequent (downslope) easterlies in the western slope of the Sierra Nevada but this also may be a fall signal largely (pm me 4 the pdf if u can't get it). Long story short, we've got a few methods to address your question.

My working hypothesis this year is that we've had (1) a few more easterly events due to the poleward (north) shift in storm track and more frequent inside sliders, which is consistent with other findings in the paper for La Niña years. The sliders set up a good pressure gradient from intermountain west/offshore. (2) since we've had colder storms overall (this is why everyone is agreeing this year has skied awesome), it makes wind transport easier (i.e., lack of spackle), so we experience the effects more. Following (2), (3) as this year lacks classic sticky icky Sierra cement events that fill in the wind effects with just a few cm of new snow, we have a greater likelihood of prolonged wind jackage...that said hard to complain about having above normal low elev snowpack in many spots!

    get some!

Squaw Saturday was a blast...just lapped the last remaining wintry aspects off KT until Shooting Stars pickup at 11AM. Highlight was 3 early laps on the Eagle's Nest shoulder. Felt like AK for a few turns but kinda ruined it for everyone else...SORRY! Evidence still on the webcam.

Great pics Jorion. Is manzanita/coverage starting to become a problem yet down low?
Can't wait for the video, 666
Yikes 213, the BC chute looks thin/narrow this year! Thx for the weather breakdown too. Next year I'm praying for 10 ft of sierra cement(spackle) in October + 1ft per week
of blower after that until April. That should solve it... ya? Not asking for much

The exit is still easy. It’s even possible to ski alongside the road all the way to the parking with a couple short waddles across dry spots. Swix red wax glides surprisingly well on forest duff it turns out.

213, your research is interesting and makes sense to me. And props for skiing those two lines in those conditions. I’ll stick to the mellow corn bowl on days like that haha!

Anyone been in the Freel area recently and have an idea about coverage down there? I'm guessing it's poor...

Thanks, 213! It's long been a source of frustration that people on this forum fail to answer my navel-gazing questions by providing peer-reviewed research articles that they've personally authored. Let this be a lesson to all the rest of you!

Also, good job on BC! I too am curious about the crux at the bottom.

    Cool photos, Jorion!

Great vid peter. Mine are older and still doing green/blue's. I gotta take them more often!

What's up with the weather forecast? No BA update in 2 days and NOAA seems to be down? What's the next best weather app/site for Tahoe/East side that lets you check conditions not just at the city, but up high?

Those winds look a little light. Based on the mammoth forecast. But likely close enough. Warm tomorrow with light NE winds. Cool morNing but eastside will warm quickly. Thurs morning not as hard if a freeze but SW winds building during the day to moderate. 20/25mph. Does not get as hot as Wednesday. Friday starts a bit cooler again with SW diminishing and about as warm as Thursday.

I check out Mountain Forecast but kind of take it with a grain of salt. NWS is more accurate though it’s harder to get the exact spot and elevation you’re looking for. Or at least it is for me, I bet some people on this forum have it really dialed.

The east wind kept things crunchy today. Your regularly scheduled corn program will return tomorrow.
