    ^^ lol... nailed it.

I've only been up to Castle / Andesite once this year... what an absolute shit show.

Meanwhile you have all of these people skinning up towards Silver Peak and then just skiing back to 89 before they actually reach the terrain back there that's fun. No one tell them.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Red. you could mix some yellow and red if you wanted tho.

Blend of blue and red to account for cold snow temps and warmer daytime temps

Serious question... mixing waxes... like some red and yellow? Actually effective?

Yes, it is effective. Had two boys on Far West racing teams at Squaw (and they went through Devo) and often the race wax call was a blend of two. Sometimes they would call for crayon method of one wax and then regular melt on of another too.

Very much so. You only want to mix waxes that have adjacent ranges. i.e. Blue and red or red and yellow but not blue and yellow. Professional wax techs do this a fair amount

I have been pretty happy using Hertel Hot Sauce or Oneball all-temperature waxes most days. Easy.

+1 on the Hertel Hot Sauce, even on the skinny skis these days, though even he recommends layering different flavors when things are above freezing.

More importantly, seems he's retiring right about now, so stock up if you still can...

Anyone seen a photo of what Squaw Peak looked like before the top was blown off / graded by FAA in the '60s? Just curious as to what the Palisades would look like without a buzz-cut.

I've always wondered what this looked like as well. Searched for pictures but could never find one.

"Who knows, maybe it will be the next rental on Airbnb soon enough."

It would be a bummer to stay on top of the Palisades and then they don't open! Haha.

There might be a photo in the Olympic Valley PO, can't remember for sure, but lots of old photos in there.

    Hey guys,

My main touring partner this winter is going to be moving so I need to find some more people to to tour with. I have Avy 1 and I'm available every day. I'm in South Lake, but willing to travel around the lake if need be.

I'm on a splitboard if that matters to anyone. PM me if interested!

THE OFFICIAL 20/21 TAHOE SKI & SNOWBOARD THREAD. PANDEMIC SCHMANDEMIC!

Hertel’s is basically closing up shop unless someone takes it over. I’ve been buying those wax bricks for a decade plus now. Bummer. So is One Ball the next go to? I used to buy their wax for surfboards. Always had that great strawberry smell.
