Wow! That could almost be a shot looking from SFO towards the coast.

The idea of fog in the summer never seemed so attractive.

Yep. Was sitting out on the deck on Monday enjoying the first blue skies in a long time. Meanwhile fire was bearing down on South Lake.

Some conflicted feelings there.

Smoke seems to have moved into Martis valley and therefore north lake. Hoping this doesn't mean southerly flow cuz that would be not good.

Is that angora?

Looks like west of my neighborhood at the base of Angora ridge. The map shows 2 dozer lines in the Angora fire scar. I'm happy to see the proactive work that was put in to protect houses, but sad to see the destruction to the hillside after 14 years of regrowth. Some trails in there like Mule Deer.

Something happening up in TD. Went for a hike earlier and saw 2 fire dept trucks, one of them hauling a 4x4, and an ambulance driving up Northwoods towards the ski area

You can start a fire with a pedal strike. And big fires have started this way.

Only one I know was rock creek, at 122 acres. There was 1 more in a race that was quickly extinguished

Yesterday we got really lucky with the way the wind was blowing, I don’t think there could have been a better senerio, could have easily taken out all of south lake. Fire fighters did a amazing job with structure protection.

Did I say I was a fan of more rules in any way shape or form?
Who "like" rules, or our recreation areas impacted or limited, or our way of life being impacted buy shit out of our control (fires, pandemics, etc)?

That should read (fires, pandemics, acts of government) because the ONLY thing keeping you out of the forests is government overreach and your willingness to go along with it.

From what I gather from reports today near Kirkwood is that the fire is holding near Thunder Bowl with heli water drops from Silver Lake.

I creep around that neighborhood a lot coming through Washoe Meadows. I’m interested to see what the area looks like. Maybe this is selfish, but I feel a little more at ease being in Meyers . It’s now surrounded by burns from the prevailing wind side. It’s not over yet though.

It makes sense. Calling up a Gard security unit gets you a large group of cops fro all over the state. Organized with body armor and machine guns
