Wow! That could almost be a shot looking from SFO towards the coast.

The idea of fog in the summer never seemed so attractive.

    Some recent stuff...

Smoke seems to have moved into Martis valley and therefore north lake. Hoping this doesn't mean southerly flow cuz that would be not good.

I'm happy to see the proactive work that was put in to protect houses, but sad to see the destruction to the hillside after 14 years of regrowth. Some trails in there like Mule Deer. Something happening up in TD. Went for a hike earlier and saw 2 fire dept trucks, one of them hauling a 4x4, and an ambulance driving up Northwoods towards the ski area

That should read (fires, pandemics, acts of government) because the ONLY thing keeping you out of the forests is government overreach and your willingness to go along with it.

Air quality has been perfection but sun never came out and cold today at my place in SF.

From what I gather from reports today near Kirkwood is that the fire is holding near Thunder Bowl with heli water drops from Silver Lake.

Can't figure out how to upload the image at that link. I get the virtual equivalent of ashes which seems oddly appropriate.

I just saw hell freeze over
The casinos closed their doors to all but government first responders
The guest who had been evacuated given the option to be bussed to properties in Reno

Harvey’s with chains on the doors
All of them staffed. But. No civilians

Part 2. The National Guard is there. They are not there to fight fire

    Rumors of widespread LOOTING

I creep around that neighborhood a lot coming through Washoe Meadows. I’m interested to see what the area looks like. Maybe this is selfish, but I feel a little more at ease being in Meyers . It’s now surrounded by burns from the prevailing wind side. It’s not over yet though.

    Damn, condolences.

I understand why it complicates things, but I can also understand why some folks want to try and stick it out. Hard times.

That's got to be really hard and I can't imagine what you're going through right now. I hope your insurance wasn't canceled right before.

Stuff on FB. Couple other things
Then I saw the Hummer parked on 50 on stateline
It’s all the abandoned stores along the lakeshore corridor that need watching and homes
It makes sense. Calling up a Gard security unit gets you a large group of cops fro all over the state. Organized with body armor and machine guns
    It’s a good move

Calfire tells us to leave our homes unlocked. Crews assigned to protect your home will enter it and defend from inside if they need to.

Went up and over the hill today (to get covid tested with the family -sigh) the smoke blowing outta Martis valley was trippy
