at least we've got a classic Tahoe sliding surface to compete with what Co and Ut are dealing with. They're about to have slides go as big as they ever do (at least LCC and BCC).

East aspects in the Rose area were excellent--inch or so of cold soft snow on top of an edgeable base. Didn't go above 10k, but I'm guessing it's a bit more scoured up there. N aspects were scoured down to 9k or so

Yes, save the dispatch number for anywhere you ski regularly. Also you can ask a lifty to radio patrol, they'll have a radio in the shack if they're not carrying one.

Pretty quiet so far a few hours south.

Of course tahoe is going to be over run this week.

It is why we drove further.

I'm fully amazed at how crap conditions swung from Sun to Mon. 24hrs from soft wonderful pow to total sludge. Pitched a new winter tent in the backyard to test and woke in the morning to broken tent poles and collapse because 6" of snow + rain turned into cement weight.

Can confirm, great windcream this morning and some deeper deposited spots. Howling N winds scouring things. Frigid, honestly might have been my coldest dawn patrol all year.

All lift shacks (top and bottom) of operating lifts have people in them, with radios to call dispatch/patrol.
If you don't have dispatch on speed dial, get to a lift.

Plus, after all of us struggling a bit, Jules went through the additional effort of using a shovel to cut out a path for us to walk on. He was great.

Skied Squaw today from 10:30am until about 1:30pm. One of the better days without fresh snow at Squaw this year. Lines weren't insane except that darn Big Blue line which has been insane all year - had to take it to get to Granite. Two groomers on Granite were good and then went to Headwall and it was skiing really good (Cornice Bowl especially). I did about 8 runs and then got my fill and took off. The snow was cold and powdery as the temperatures were cold especially up top (and wind blown on the cornices).

Kirkwood was brutal today. So disappointed. First time there, and the terrain looks fantastic. Too bad it's covered in ice...

Little nvbackcountry update for anyone who has been missing the blog posts. Quick 2021 recap on our shenanigans, with more to come soon. Last year I felt shamed for going out during the COVID thing, so kind of just stopped posting/advertising our adventures. Heres to getting things running again in 2021!
