In b4 anyone calls me a CC denier.

I see a lot of evidence for anthropogenic climate change

Edit: sorry, no need for further explain. I’m way too high, way to early

I’m driving out there tonight and headed east in the afternoon. I can give a report from the valley in the morning.

Anyone want to join on my annual Woods lake to Round Top/Sisters mission on Thursday? Just hoping the cold front passes to allow some decent turns by then.

I’ll be driving back from Mammoth on Wednesday and picking up the mrs at SFO around 8pm. Let me see what she thinks about me turning around to go back out and ski some.

I’ll drive by that way later today and see what I can see.

From the deck it is mostly a red cliffs view. No snow at the top of Zachary but there is snow on the north facing Oly to Sentinel. Hoping on bikes and headed up Dangberg to see what we can see. Feels hot.

What time are you thinking of going given the hard freeze we'll be getting? I might head out but have no interest in an early start. Still might see you at round top lake otherwise.

Barely a freeze at all last night at elevation but at 11 today it was fairly prime

Thinking 9 - 9:30am at Woods Lake parking spots near the bridge as you drive further down the road. Then say 45 to an hour to winnemucca lake, and then transition to ski boots up Round Top and then the sisters tour toward Round Top Lake. The normal routine.

Jacks Valley fire has been knocked down at this time with all growth and forward progress stopped. Got a little sporty there for a while with 40+ mph winds on it.

got another friend hoping to get the hall pass in the morning so we're likely gonna get a little later start and head straight to the sisters so i'll probably see you there.

Windy as fuck yesterday. From Mammoth over 108 to SFO and down 280.

Tioga had a long line and a flashing sign saying reservations required to enter Yosemite. We turned around. Our buddy had spent some time on June Lake Loop and showed up an hour after us and gave it a try. 8 cars and they let him through. Drive through allowed w/o reservation. Fucking stupid sign. Did not get to until until after waiting 30 minutes in line we just showed up at the wrong time. Turned around still a 1/4 mile from
The kiosk. Had to pick up the wife at SFO so couldn’t wait any longer and get turned around. Bummer was when I got down to MoMart text comes in saying her flight is an hour late.

Anyway, really breezy yesterday all over. The stretch of Tioga where you are on the edge of a mountain had big rocks blowing down and across the road.

Was looking for something else, and figured out that Sierra Watch's appeal of the CEQA litigation will be proceeding to oral argument in the California Court of Appeals on July 21. Sierra Watch lost in the trial court on these issues. So, about 2-4 months after that, we should have a court decision.

    Perhaps still ghouls then?

Does anyone know the status of the Village proposal and when that might happen (hopefully never)?

^Ya forgot Whiskey pup! He was an integral part of the crew, too.
    Solid day, for sure.
Mad mondo Danke gracias to all for letting me tag along.
Most interesting day of schuss, ranging from character building and knee twisting suncups to corn.
Not to self: buy crampons and an ice ax.
Me'n Vets managed to gape in awe at 666er shredding "Cock Rock" around 3ish and then hiked out together talking about real estate, skis, and beer.

Haha, yup! Woods lake parking doubled while we were skiing.

Great day today...a crew of 7 strong has to be a record of some kind. Diagonal off Round Top was a bit sketch and firm but just enough softening to survive. Sisters 1 was cream corn as usual. Sisters 2's steep section was a bit gnarly due to drought so a no go and the main chute itself was a bit funky. Sisters 3 was interesting through the chute and corn bliss n on the steep exit down to Round Top Lake.

Did’t you make that same note to self a decade ago when climbing at VA Lakes with me and Schralpmachio?

Looks like a banner day yall.

    ^probably.
I do "fondly" remember the sketchiness of that final pitch at VA, though...

Definitely made the note a few years ago when I last did the RT loop with 666.

Though now that I think about it, not having crampons is kinda the "gentleman's" way of passing on/getting out of doing the gnarly-gnarly stuff like "Diagonal" and "Sisters 3" (I have done "Sisters 1" and "2" before, but with more coverage, fwiw).

But, yeah, time to invest as I got skunked on the first run that me, PD, Vets, and Greg did. I only made it 1/2 way up the pitch before I couldn't get a solid foot hold any more.
