Chickadee ridge is a solid date option although the gapers will be out full force at Mt Rose meadows this weekend I’ll bet. Bring some black birdseed and ur Doolittle skills will for sure get u a handy in the woods.

Sounds like you will be south tho. This weekend will be a shitshow all round. Good weekend for NFL but that’s not a good date option.

Good luck. Dating is pretty exhausting. Keep swiping......

This weekend? If you want to save money I heard the protests in Carson will be free for all. Or maybe it was 'a' free for all. Anyway, could be an interesting first date.

Decided to drag out my 40 year old XC touring skis and use the Royal Gorge part of my SB pass. Fell on my ass right out of the gate. Still hurts. It was a little slick in the tracks.
Things looked relatively slow up on the summit. I wonder if things are going to be as busy a people expect this weekend, lack of snow and all.

Goddamn tourists. Woman refused to pass a loader with chains doing 5 MPH on Squaw Valley road the other day, mostly in the bike lane, and screamed at me when I passed her (and the loader).

Pace yourself, pandemic will mellow out and it'll be a lot easier. Same boat. I will say, the whole working at home thing has brought a new wave of talent to the extended Tahoe area. And a lot of nurses.

Man, I would opt out for another w/e or midweek.
Given the non-stop cars on Northwoods today, I feel this weekend is gonna be packed with toolrists in all directions around the Lake.

Doesn't help that S@H orders for Greater Sac have been lifted or that very few BA/SF folks are as considerate as 666...

In other news, SRB was fun today between 12:40 And 2:40.
Compacted speed slush, Edward J. Olmos, and .razed glazed conditions. Both turnouts were full, but I only saw 3 people on the hill when I was out there and had each of my 3 runs to myself...

THE OFFICIAL 20/21 TAHOE SKI & SNOWBOARD THREAD. PANDEMIC SCHMANDEMIC!

we hit KT early one morning when Owen was that little

I was scared as we rolled around the road and looked down to AM - looked like he could fall off the world and go far

the moguls were fkn hudge - as big as tiny Owen

I’m not exactly a mogul skier

OB and Chris and I were making our way down when a woman rolled up to Owen and asked “does your mommy know where you are right now?”

he pointed at Chris and I and said “yeah, I’m with these guys”

    she looked mortified

OB continued to kill it down KT

4 weeks after testing positive. Finally got to France, took a while to test negative again.

My first day on skis this season. Skied one of these couloirs, all untracked, and just this ridge alone will keep me busy for a couple of weeks.

Resorts are closed, tons of rando skiers, but luckily for me, they don't like to ski couloirs

    Boot top powder.

A hard freeze last night and a cool East breeze at Rose are combining to keep the temps down and the snow much firmer today (Sat) than the last couple days.

Had a rare Sat off from work, so I made a beer run down to the foothills (Moonraker and Moksa).
Steady stream of E/B traffic on 80 at 10:30 am.
W/B Amber alert sign alerted me that the Donner Summit Sno Park was full (it was still full at 1:30 with cars double-parked and backed up to Boreal).
Saw a CHP and tow truck hauling somebody away at the Castle Peak trailhead, plus a white Subi that looked like that Beemer TBC posted recently.
The Kingvale tubing hill was a Covid outbreak in progress at 10:30 And still a clusterfugg at 1:30; cars were overflowing under 80.
Pretty much every pullout, turnout, quasi parking spot from Nyack to Negro Canyon was overflowing with people (Both Emmigrant and Yuba Gap areas were packed and the Nyack Shell was SRO) .
    Downtown Truckee is a zoo.
Drove by SRB to see about a late afternoon schuss and all the lots and the surrounding streets were full.
Went home and ate a late lunch instead.
    Back to the grind tomorrow.

Did my beer and others run yesterday. Made sure I don't have to leave the house (by car) again until after next weekend.

Full disclosure: since I have worked every MLK w/e for the past 12 years I have no idea if these crowds at the Sno Parks and tubing areas are normal for this time of year, but given the lack of snow at the moment and the fact that most folks are working from home and home schooling (meaning they should have somewhat flexible schedules), the crowds seemed extraordinarily large to me...

That said, even though Boreal's lot was overflowing, the hill appeared empty.
Ditto for Soda Springs and T/D
