Perhaps my reading comprehension has suffered due to lack of skiing, but who is Lou? The article was written by a dude named Dr. Alex Lee...

I'm cool with calling the 21/22 season open. Heck both PD and Vets made turns over the past 3 days and I coulda made turns had I been gung-hu enough to lug my gear up to Paradise Lake...

Originally heard they are trying to get west ridge, easy rider and rock garden running for this season. But maybe short stuff also, heard Palisades is paying there staff to get it running, also sounds like Mammoth has stepped up providing lift chairs, this may not be the extent of there help. Got cut short on my conversation so maybe others are stepping up also. Think skidoo is sending sleds to them.

Sounds like there gonna pull off reduced operations this winter, hope they can pull it off.
Bleh. Not sure what “west ridge” is? Opening short stuff doesn’t make sense unless Grandview or Nob is open. Can’t get to that lift if they are closed. Going to be a shit show if they can’t get a good portion of the terrain open. If that’s the case, I’d hope they’d offer refunds or roll passes to next season. Hopefully they’ll make some kind of operational announcement soon to give pass holders time to find another option if the season is going to be very limited. Whole situation just sucks!

I thought it was Lou Reed. And next year would be a walk on the wild side, so you better bring lawyers guns and money

AKA the self appointed authority on all things skiing. It's 2021 and he still insists we should all be on sub 100mm skis and if you use something wider you just don't know how to ski. Dude is stuck in 2005.

Anyway, time for the new thread?

We may have to face the fact that Sierra could be done. They promised to build back better last night at the fundraiser, but it's not going to be the same resort going forward. At the very least it will be a less attractive place to ski, and that will hurt their bottom line when it is already under pressure.
I'm not sure how much weight to put in it, but in his thank you speech Paul (?) said something to the effect of "if we can't get back this year, or if we can't get back next year, we will be back".

fun fact- went to the bathroom in the porta potty. Used the little side urinal and when I spun around to button my pants I forgot I was pinning my gloves under my elbow. They fell right into the shitter which was almost full so the next person was gonna be dropping less than an inch onto the gloves.
I bought a new pair this morning

The Canadian Rockies just threw down the gauntlet with their 2021-22 thread. But it's like 1987 American.

It's snowing at lake level. There's a good half inch on my deck. I've XC'd on that little on a golf course back in MI.

Maybe 5mm on my deck, if that.

Snow on my deck gone before I could break out the XC skis. Damn. Skiing from one end of the deck to the other would have been at least as impressive as some of the late summer skiing posts I've seen in this thread.

From a linguistic standpoint, keep in mind that you can grapple with graupel, but you can't graupel with grapple...

Have you ever grappled with eating a grapple promoted by a monkey on a snowboard airing over some graupel?
