Was a good morning to take off work before the shit storm ensues tomorrow and Thursday. Hoping it’ll be sane/safe to head out to low angle noodling Friday-Sun

Granite Chief popped this morning... so that was fun. I doubt much will be open before Friday.

Something about trading gonzo for a router.

Traffic over the coming days could well be a shitshow the magnitude of which we haven't seen since 2 seasons ago when we got 30 inches overnight, 80 closed for most of Sunday, and the whole Tahoe basin tried to go home to the bay area via 50 at the same time. If you really want it bad I'd recommend heading up tonight and hunkering down for the next few days.

I’d bet the Wintersteigers will be spinning next week after the blood in the water this weekend. Gonna be a manic shitshow.

You heard it here first...Limited Terrain, Late Openings (If At All) and they will be lower mountain lifts, UNTIL Friday. If they cannot handle the snow tonight and open tomorrow then the same applies for Thursday. Epic has done a service so we know to stay away from the Wood for the next two days, probably will not be able to get out there until Thursday or Friday anyways. Spur stays closed until Friday once it closes tonight / tomorrow.

    I remember this.

Also remember skiing that January 2005 cycle (which is what I recall it being from?), though not with those guys.

Careful out there. This sorta dump after a similarly crappy start to a season a few years ago led me to charge a bit too hard and a drydocking that resulted in a broken collarbone

Under. We need a tunnel from Blue Canyon to Truckee so more people can get here for the fresh snow.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see 80 shut down as soon as it starts snowing. Within an hour of chain controls going up. They may get it back open but 6"/hr bursts and 2-3"/hr sustained with cold snow and wind will overwhelm things. You saw the sign that says the event starts at 7pm sharp!

Interestingly, according to the radar, snow is about 5-10 minutes from Donner Summit

Damn, that's almost Buffalo-level lake effect. And from a lake with much less surface area. Right on.

I have a friend who's currently living in Weaverville, just a little north/northwest of Redding at 2k. She sent me pictures about an hour ago of snow already at the level of picnic table benches there, at least two feet. Snow is still coming down hard there apparently. At least in that region, sounds like storm is way overperforming so far, I believe they were forecasted for two feet by tomorrow or Thursday night.
