If there was any snow hanging up in the spur before this, it will close once it gets about 14” and won’t open until mid day Friday.

I'd resist if my kids weren't actually in regular school...but lucky to have that and hence all the agreements we had to sign.

    Dad will resist...don't you worry.

Best day of the season so far at Alpine. I fucked my skis up pretty well but it was worth it and my knees are still intact. Sharks everywhere.
I ski 135 degree chutes switch to the road.

Skiing when it hasn't snowed in weeks pays dividends when it snows and you know the spots to avoid. (Doesn't mean you'll necessarily avoid them.)

Agreed for sure. Any day where you're just dinging skis and not your body is worth it.

And they winner of the avy danger forecasting challenge is...

It does not look good folks. Slides in the barely-there new snow that the last two storms made buns around a surface hoar schmear. It's a shit sandwich.

Considering the slow start I feel like I’ve been out a lot with around 25 days... can’t believe you have more than double that already. Hope they open up some of the hikes tomorrow. High yellow looked tasty just sitting there untouched.

Weather.com's also switched for the worse now it's just two hours of previous and 4 hours of future with no way to switch. That might be good for some folk but as skiers the previous radar is more important and kcra meets that

As expected it was aspect driven. But hardly anyone there, and turns like this until 12:30...

looks can be deceiving. I was hitting bottom on anything mildly steep.

Interesting Kirkwood is booked out for Wed/Thur. I wonder if they reduced capacity in anticipation of reduced operations? I doubt there will be much skiing on Wed, not sure about Thur either. Also if you're not already there you probably won't be able to get there. I have hopes for Friday..

You may want to drive up 50 on Friday. Or park on 50. Either way, head to 50.
