    Maybe fun for all.

Do all posts in this thread have to be in haiku form?

Anyone used TEC in Truckee for gear repair (not cleaning)? I have a couple jackets that need some TLC (new zipper, pockets resewn). Deciding between going local or sending them to Rainy Pass. Yelp reviews seem to be mostly about cleaning.

Dude, don't be a Haiku Hater!

In regards to zippers, last season Patagucci in Reno would do free zipper replacements, regardless of the brand. Not sure what they are doing now, but may be worth checking their site.
I also know that they used to have mobile repair trucks where they would do free repairs around the country...

I have always been dismayed by the lack of gear repair stores these days.

Way back in the day there were 2 great gear repair shops in the Oakland/Berkeley area, one of which was right next door to REI, the other was on the Ashby border. They both would clean down bags, do all kinds of funky zipper repair, fix packs, add pockets, etc. They both disappeared in the 90s...

I have had them put some snap buttons on my softshell pant pockets and they've held up really well. Daniel is a solid dude and if you take your stuff to him he'll be honest with you if he doubts their ability to do a repair.

I had them replace the zipper on a wet suit. They did a good job. Now if they could fix my shoulders so I could zip up the back . . .

Tahoe TEC is solid. I've had them repair some pretty tattered ski items and launder a number of down products.

Anyone ever used them to get lift grease stains off of ski pants or is that generally a lost cause? My yellow Flylow touring pants are kind of getting nasty at this point...

I’ve seen them post before and after pics of a similar stain removal and it looked damn good. All I’ve heard is the work is high quality but have never used them personally.

Made a beer run to Lincoln this a.m. (if you hain't had Slice, you oughta:
    https://www.slicebeer.com/home).

I was initially concerned about getting there and back given the weather reports and the fact that I have yet to swap out to snow tires. Concerns were unwarranted as it only rained between Truckee and Blue Canyon.

In spite of the lack of snow, CHP and CalTrans chain checkers were posted up on the WB Donner scenic overlook at 10:40. An hour later, down in Applegate, there was a long line of EB semis being checked for chains.

There was a dusting up on Judah and points east/south and a tiny bit up on Castle, but nothing substantial.

It was sunny and clear in the foothills and the drive home around noon was clear. Some fool/tool passed me with his snowboard strapped to the roof of his Subaru around Kingvale...no clue wjere he is planning to ride this w/e.

Oh yeah, Colfax be gunning for the Bay Area wannabe expats: two giant billboards on either side of 80 exclaiming "Escape The City" and then telling about new homes for sale. Lincoln also has a few new housing developments being built (but only for 55+).

The snow predictions for the weekend in Truckee have gone from 70% to 30% since this morning

It only snowed for like 45 seconds on the east. But the scenery change was nice.Click image for larger version.

I once took a coat on for a zipper repair to TEC, he looked at it, took it in back for 5 min, got it working pretty well, then didn’t charge me.
I was stoked he knew what he was doing, but the zipper stopped working a few weeks later. I somehow fuck up all my zippers. They’ve done some decent cleanings for me too.
