That is so true. Surf season almost the same, but it flips back and forth through fall and winter.
When I first started skiing in the Sierra it really seemed to be instant base. I recall one season it was hot up until the 2nd week of November, then it precipitated for five or so days. When it was all done, there was a rock solid 40” base made of frozen slush with 8-12” of fluff on top. The. It stayed cold until January.

Someone was asking about the gate on the dirt road off of South Shore Drive at Donner Lake. It was open when I rode by today, FWIW.

Everybuddy sees in the forecast but there will be a period of high winds ahead of the precip and with everything still super dry, that means look out for the :

quite a few folks bought homes in BV this summer - they don't seem to understand that they REALLY don't plow the town roads in winter - I predict some chaos on the highway and in town this weekend

I was going to ask what you were referring to. They plow the roads in November around most of Tahoe (Truckee I can confirm), which is why the winter parking ban goes into effect on Nov 1. I've definitely seen some shit shows in both October and May, however.

The don’t plow roads in bear valley “town.” Similar to sugarbowl “town.”
