Ah Jake's Peak, every time I see that it reminds me of a fantastic book (and I rarely read books) that talks about about Jake extensively (the person the peak is named for) and goes into great detail about the '82 Alpine Meadows avalanche he was killed in. It's called Wall Of White by Jennifer Woodlief.

Anyone hit N* yet this year? Taking fam up tomorrow for first turns of the season. Just wondering if the parking bus still runs or if its a walk to the village for everyone these days? Also, any insight into how the top of the mountain is skiing would be good to.

Can’t give any info on conditions but parking busses are still running at a reduced capacity

Rose report from today. Slide side is now open. What that really means is there is another place to park, and there is one more run to ski,
Silver Dollar. Crowds were light to non existent this afternoon with no lines. The snow is starting to get skied off in places with some floating gravel coming to the surface in places. It's fun for a couple of hours, and certainly better than no skiing. But with no snow in the foreseeable future skiing the same couple runs will start to get old fast.

went out to the pass yesterday for first time in a couple weeks........woof! ended up skiing unconsolidated solar....... sigh

I paid $1250 per month for a 280 square foot apartment in south Berkeley back when I was in college... and that was in 2001. And we were stoked to find it at the time. At least it didn't cost much to heat! haha

Read recently that rents have gone down in the Bay Area as tech folks flee to live in more remote locations. Sucks for y’all as the work from home crown might not go away completely after the pandemic.

Can't let this issue come up without pointing out that it's not a question of what is wrong with people. Some landlords may be better than others, but they are all responding rationally to incentives within a system that generates massive inequality.
