If I'm guessing correctly, there's a good chance the rain event didn't make it that far east in any substantive way so the strong supportive crest crust under the last small storm is weak, or just not there.

    To: Elizabeth Stork <estork@bartonhealth.org>

    Hi All,

Barton Health is working with El Dorado County to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible community members/ patients. Vaccines will be administered to only those with an appointment, and those eligible to receive a vaccine will be contacted by Barton directly to schedule their appointment.

We are reaching out for your assistance to volunteer at Barton Health mass vaccination clinics. The first mass vaccine clinic is being held at Lake Tahoe Community College on February 26, 2021, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The second dose clinic is scheduled for March 19, 2021. We are putting the clinic on with assistance from LTCC, the City of South Lake Tahoe and El Dorado County. The information below is specific to the February 26 clinic, however, if you are able to volunteer for both the scheduled clinics or only the March 19 clinic please let us know.

We need clinical volunteers for a variety of positions for the following two shifts: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Vaccine Administration (CA License required and must be able to give injections per your specific scope of practice)
Observer RN (CA Licensed Registered Nurse required)
    Pharmacist (CA License required)

Please note: clinical volunteers must complete an online 30 minute training session prior to February 26. More details will be sent to you, if applicable.

We need non-clinical volunteers for a variety of positions for the following two shifts: 7:30 am to 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Patient Concierge (Greeting patients, complete screening questions, collect patient consent)
Traffic Liaison (Directing patients to appropriate queue)
Runners (Deliver supplies, communicate needs across clinic)
Vaccine Card and Appointment Desk (Complete vaccine cards and documentation)

Additionally, we need help with setting up the clinic and tearing down the clinic. The shifts for set up and tear down are 5:00 am to 8:30 am and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Please wear warm clothing as this event will be held outside and may be subject to extreme temperatures. PPE and lunch will be provided.

If you are interested in volunteering, please respond to this email with your name, phone number and clinical license information, if applicable. Please let us know what position you would like to fill and what shift you are available. We will email you early next week with details and the contact person for the date of the event.

Please leave a message at 530.545.9850 if you have any questions about volunteering.

same zone as toad weds..... legit corn but lotsa rock and track avoiding.... and it always goes off first so isn’t always indicative. Coverage on solar is spotty at best but it’s there in certain spots..... and the rain crust actually helps if your seeking that. I concur with rain crust not being as present in carson range as it is near the crest leading to mankier snow

Thanks all for the obs from the past few days. Much need with conditions as variable as they are.

Was up in tamarack zone on Tuesday or Wednesday, can't remember. Chundery snow skiing directly north facing stuff, but still pretty fun to pick through and skied a little chute-type thing. Tracked out quite a bit. No clue what it's like up there as of today.

Alpine didn't thaw out today except for some south facing stuff on lakeview and sherwood. I don't think the bc southerly aspects will get soft with the cooler temps and wind this weekend. Lots of crunchy skiing...

Decided to go for a little north lake adventure out a friend's front door today. Found soft snow, corn, sheets of ice, bare ground, bushwacking, and everything in between. Views and stoke was top notch even if the skiing wasn't. Something special about not having to deal with driving or trailheads.

Pretty good corn on Emerald Bay chute Friday. climbing back up around noon, got only a toe to heel penetration. But as others said the other gullys had mixed conditions and were pretty tracked out. Still some powder and or powder on crust in protected spots.

Fantastic corn on S aspects on CP today. We skied at 11:30 ish and it was good, but prime time today was probably 12--2pm. hardly any wind, and we crossed no tracks on the way down. Ski back on the northerly was better than I thought it would be (Expectation= horrible, reality = semi sucky to fun windboard).

Interesting, I skied pretty close to there yesterday and it never quite warmed up enough for corn. Same elevations I would imagine. Between skiing a sheltered northeast-facing line and an open south-facing I feel like I must have skied every type of transitional snow. Almost all of it was decent with isolated pockets of both great and heinous snow. Nice to explore a new zone and not see anybody, definitely better than not skiing.

Skied a SE aspect about 1 h later, west of the crest by DP and agree the corn was fantastic. Wind was almost non existent up top.

Castle corning up on the right aspects. no wind yesterday and no clouds was good for the melt refreeze. Should be getting good with this warming this week.

Man the snowpark is so fucked though...

Jorion - yeah it was a bit weird. I think it had a really good freeze and it definitely took much longer to soften compared to the warm air temps/lack of wind. And it was really micro location specific. On our ski down, we'd hit a patch of harder snow, scoot over 3 turns and back to soft again. Not even much of a change in aspect. Same thing when we skinned back up. By then everything was soft, but again, some areas were only 1 inch melted and rock hard (0 ski pole penetration) below it, while 10 ft away it's 3 inches of soft. The nice thing about that face is there is plenty of room to move around and we found the goods. I was speculating maybe the variance is due to snowpack depth? deep areas had more cold to overcome? vs. area's with rock not far below the surface...

Headed straight to Silverado Saturday morning and it was pretty much an ice block. Cold winds weren't going to help anything so ended up lapping firm groomers in the sun. Tested next year's Moment Deathwish 190 (with only the slightest of tweaks) and I gave them the green-light. The testing also made me realize that my current Deathwish badly needed a major tune after 20 days so far this season in Telluride.

Back to legal skiing from SF county so my kids can officially finish out the ski team season. Oldest has his only race at Alpine this upcoming Sunday, so I'm expecting shit weather and travel on Sunday.

Hopefully silvy stays open. Was gonna try to ski mid week this week, but your report will likely keep me at home. More snow on the way, so maybe a re surfacing soon. I wants some Silvy.

Groomers were still quite enjoyable and mid-winterish...just not enough warmth on Saturday. You follow the sun and you'll have a good time. Skiing is always worth it, right?

It was warm in Castle Valley this morning but I could hear the wind crankin above the tree tops. Got to the ridge at Castle Pass and was disappointed to find a frozen solid snow surface. Winds were blustery and I was worried about losing my hat. Decided to keep going and it paid off. Followed the booter out to the middle of the bowl on Castle Peak and the corn was ripe and creamy. My pictures kinda suck but I was too stoked on how good the snow was. Drop time of 1:05pm.

Went down to Kirkwood for the first time in many years on Saturday for a buddy's bday. Damn, I love that place. Wish I could ski there on the regular - so much incredible alpine lift-accessed-backcountry. Conditions were...chilly and an E/N wind. The beer was cold, the groomers were firm and fast, the off-piste was a refrozen minefield wasteland.

I'm not sure what to call this - stoke? Uh, pretty mountains with terrible snow conditions? Yeah, that. But any day on skis...

I was also lucky enough to catch Silvy on opening day, thanks to the power outage. That terrain is just rad. There are several E/SE aspects that should soften relatively early, especially given their lower elevations.

Some "beta" shots so you can see coverage.

One of the best corn days of my life was at Kirkwood in March in Eagle Bowl, on a day when people were falling on the Wall and going all the way to the bottom. The kind of corn that feels like powder but your skis don't leave tracks.
