Fixed it for ya. He’s funny, you just don’t think he’s funny. Comedy is subjective.
People think Picasso is a great artist, I think he sucks, but that doesn’t make him a bad artist.

People who say SNL USED to be funny are the people SNL is now making fun of. SNL used to make fun of marginalized groups. Now SNL makes fun of old people and especially rednecks

You don't find this funny? https://youtu.be/hLOw_SzkRQ8 something is wrong with your humor circuits, if so.

If Dave doesn't do it for you, who do you find humorous? Do Carlin, Murphy, or Pryor generate a laugh?

It's kinda odd that y'all are posting sketches that Dave AND Neal Brennan probably wrote together. That dude gets so little credit. Dave's delivery is solid because he practices so much. Personally I think Brennan has a better, darker sense of humor. Dave's most controversial sketches are from Brennan's mind.

I usually laugh at the drunk retired porn star ads but the big hats skit was pretty stupid.
I do like how they save the stuff they're not all that sure about until after Weekend Update. The later skits are usually hit or miss and rarely really good.Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Yup. Recently watched Brennan’s 2 stand up specials on Netflix. Blocks and 3 Mics.
Highly recommend.
Didn’t realize how hard he suffers from depression but it seems to fuel his hilarity somehow.

Not all episodes are bangers. Sometimes a wolf and leg warmers have to save the day from pedo humor.

Chapelle and Carlin are/were the greatest because they both are incredibly funny, but also have razor sharp wit discussing and undressing the pressing societal issues of the time. As Seinfeld said, chappelle just hops in the arena and dodges lasers for 60 minutes and kills while doing it. Its really cool to watch and listen to.

the extended monologue was great because it took me a good 5 minutes to start enjoying it, but then I was hooked. That condensed the rest of the show a bit which maybe made it seem like there were more ads (as a DVR user I don't really notice though)

Not really, but it’s a stupid comparison to make since they’re almost too different to compare. Chappelle is a stand up comic, and an amazing one at that, while Carlin is an artist who worked in comedy. Dave goes for laughs and gets laughs (if we can forget about that last special). Carlin delivered a very crafted/scripted message and got laughs along the way.
You could watch a Carlin show and not laugh for minutes at a time, but still appreciate the wit and intelligence behind the commentary. He had some genius/groundbreaking bits, but he also put out something like 20 albums, a lot of which are completely unremarkable. I find Chappelle to be consistently funnier, but he’s a bit more lowbrow and aiming at a broader audience.

Colin Jost and Michael Che swapping jokes & roasting each other is peak SNL. The current era weekend update is as good if not better than ever.

I like how they aren't warning the audience anymore for the extra wtf level.

A top 10 Weekend Update list would spur many arguments, seeing as that we can't universally agree that Dave is great.
I still call it The Jake.
