Jim Carrey firing on all cylinders - solid gold!

Nice nod to that seminal squickfest Scanners, too!

Can't believe Keenan is still doing it, and killing it. Biggest shift in talent since Poehler and Faye left. Trump guy sounds like him but doesn't look like him at all.

I'm gonna give the new kids a couple shows before deciding if I ike them or not.

Watched tonight’s show for Dave. I haven’t really watched SNL since the late 1900s, but OMG the ads! So many many advertisements, more ads than sketches. What happened?

Been that way forever. Ads between each sketch. I watch on YouTube. It’s gotten to the point that they’re practically releasing the sketches real-time.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Dave and Black Star killed it.

I think his monologue deserves an embed.

I agree. It was an ad after every sketch, more than usual. Luckily I don’t watch live, I record it and fast forward commercials.

Same here. It seems like they hold the cold open back a bit, so it's monologue > fake news > open > music > whatever sketches that aren't crap.

Love hearing Dave’s thoughts on things.

Cool we essentially got a condensed stand up special. SNL opening monologues suck 99% of the time.

Mos Def! That was one masterful stroll through a very tricky mine field! And he brought it all the way around to cap it with a killer punch line! Dave is still the best!

Lots of good moments in the show, but I've always loved the whack shit, and this piece did it for me...

Hearing Mos Def and Talib Kweli took me right back to undergrad. Can’t believe it’s been 20 some years between their first and second albums.
I still call it The Jake.

Agreed. First exposure to BS for me.. Rage to old TV/Movie action scene samples.. Nice!

Dave's dying breed. I don't agree with the critics but I understand where they are coming from. We're no longer allowed to laugh at anything that hurts someone else's feelings unless the target of the criticism is something they can easily and should control themselves. No more laughing at other people for being they way they just are.. We only laugh at ourselves for that.. I'm not 100% all in on that evolving etiquette and canceling over it. It's were we are though..

I know I'm in the minority on this, but is Chapelle even slightly funny? I'm not offended, he just hasn't said anything, ever, that makes me laugh, or even smile.

    I know right.

Maybe he’s more of a Carrot Top / Gallagher fan.

I almost wrote "Even carrot top is funnier, and that's a pretty low bar." DC just isn't remotely funny.

As far as Gallagher, I worked at Safeway one summer in college and he chose my line for checkout, with 3 carts full of watermelons and stuff. So that was sort of fun, or something.

If this doesn’t make you laugh then I’m not sure what to say.
