I saw all the comments on tabs of acid, but didn't really see any other comments about meds.

Being the connoisseur of emergency room visits, I've had a ton of pain meds that I never went through, so I typically bring some in the event of an emergency. Not really any weight, so they go in my med-pack. Having been pulled out of an area by SAR in the winter, it takes a long time, and if you have a painful injury it can make a world of difference.

Other thing I typically carry after that experience is a lightweight inflatable mattress, to get an injured patient off the snow in order to stay warm. This can also be Macgyvered into a sled if needed.

I carry aspirin, NSAIDs, Benadryl, some Benzoin, and some pain relief narcs. I should probably throw in some Immodium. Also sunscreen.

yeah those are good ^^ a little stronger a little longer than the voile but i think you still need 2 to strap a boot to ski, you can also daisy chain the regular voile straps, IME every BC skier should be packing at least 2 or be prepared to walk out

Be cognizant of what pills you're carrying when you cross a border. Border patrol gets suspicious when you have multiple prescription pills in a bottle that has 10 layers of duct tapped around the lable. Turns out.

there are often alot of MD types in the BC ( 2 in any given hut trip) who have squirreled away the meds, calling to see how buddy was doing after an unfortunate incident he yelled out from the background " come on over man, we got out-of-date morphine and Tequila !"

I carry a BD t-driver. I have free handed a dynafit toe in the basement with it, could probably do it in the field, definitely in a hut.

Bothy bag- at 2 lbs total for 4 people, best shelter option.

FWIW, I've yet to be on a hut trip where there have been any doctors or nurses in the group. There was a dentist on my last trip, but after spending a week around him, it was apparent he didn't know shit from ass about medicine.

last season my buddy completely tore his achilles, doctors, nurses and a PT, a doctor in the group took him on as a patient got on the phone & booked surgery from the lodge, buddy got cut on the day after he was choppered out and he is skiing this season

last trip i was on there were 2 MD's and a pharmacist, they got on the radio with another hut where a skier had an infected tooth over who had what meds and what they would do ... they recommend evacuation so the skier flew out

cue the dentist jokes

The old dirty clif bar at the bottom of the bag. For when youre bonking so hard that you dont mind the dirt/sand embedded into the open end, and you don't care that its likely more than a season old. Pretty sure that clif bars dont go bad, ever.
