It's been a while....
Magic got 10-12" of mank yesterday and then 4+" of upslope overnight and through today. The base is there and another storm preceded by some grooming as the mank drains and freezes will put the entire mountain in play (again).
West side was definitely challenging and way too many first-timers didn't understand what "Experts Only" means at a place like Magic but fun was had. The "Chute" was quite the comedy zone as snowplowers asked, "Is that a Double Black Diamond?"
For those in the know, this is Sorceror today:
Snow looks awesome but not much of it moved when skied on...

Monday proved to be the best day of the storm cycle. Another 3-4" of upslope overnight and it continued throughout the day. Runs that were 4" of fluff on coral reef on Sunday became 6-8" of soft, almost blower snow, on top of a now-smooth and supportable base. 15-20 minute lift lines on Sunday became 2-5 minute lines on Monday. Ventured into the woods even.
We skied the "Progression" starting with Slide of Hans and working our way eastward across the mountain. Trick Woods was definitely in play and Magician from the top skied as good as I've ever seen it. So much snow in the top 2/3 of Goniff and T-Zone.
BTW, I don't see how we can call the Hallows a tree run any more. It's much wider than Broomstick or Whiteout after the logging that went on in there.

nice write up Augie. Great to see Magic so fat and the way the crew has everything dialed in.

Fingers crossed for a nice refresh tonight into tomorrow. Still skiing great but we haven't gotten any appreciable snow for a week. Steep natural snow trails are showing some wear in the usual spots. Grooming has been spot on and opened up a lot more terrain for the masses. Now that the holidays are almost over, hoping they stop and let the bumps build back up.
